HomeMy WebLinkAbout05 2000-08-18 RESOLUTION NO. 00-05CCPD RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, ON AUGUST 12, 2000, FOR THE ADOPTION OR REJECTION OF CONTINUING THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF THE ONE-QUARTER OF ONE PERCENT SALES AND USE TAX FOR TWENTY(20)YEARS AND CONTINUING THE EULESS MUNICIPAL CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT FOR TWENTY(20)YEARS WHEREAS, there was held in the City of Euless, Texas, on the 12th day of August, 2000, an election at which there was submitted to the duly qualified resident electors of the City of Euless, Texas, for their action and vote therefore a proposition on whether the Euless Crime Control and Prevention District should be continued for twenty (20)years and the Crime Control and Prevention District sales tax should be continued for twenty(20)years at a rate of one-quarter of one percent. WHEREAS, there were a total of 420 voters at said election; and WHEREAS, only duly qualified resident electors of the City of Euless, Texas, voted at said election, and said election was called and held in strict conformity with the laws of the State of Texas, and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 67.004 of the Texas Election Code, two members of the Euless Municipal Crime Control and Prevention District constitute a quorum for purposes of canvassing an election. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE TEMPORARY BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE EULESS MUNICIPAL CRIME CONTROL AND PREVENTION DISTRICT, THAT: SECTION 1 An election described in the preamble to this Resolution was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with the law; that said election was held in the manner required by law; that only duly qualified resident electors of the City of Euless, Texas, voted at said election; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that votes cast at said election on the proposed proposition were as follows: PROPOSITION Whether the Euless Crime Control and Prevention District should be continued for twenty (20) years and the Crime Control and Prevention District sales tax should be continued for twenty (20) years at a rate of one-quarter of one percent. FOR: 347 AGAINST: 73 The proposition was therefore approved by the voters of the City of Euless, Texas. SECTION 2 The Board of Directors of the Euless Municipal Crime Control and Prevention District, hereby officially declares that the proposed proposition has been properly and lawfully adopted. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Euless Municipal Crime Control and Prevention District shall send to the Comptroller of the State of Texas by United States certified mail a certified copy of this resolution upon its adoption, along with a map of the City of Euless clearly showing its boundaries. PASSED AND APPROVED at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Euless Municipal Crime Control and Prevention District on the 18th day of August, 2000, by a vote of 2 , ayes, 0 nays, and 0 abstentions.
