Parks and Leisure Services Board
September 10, 2018
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:54 p.m. on
Monday, September 10, 2018 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Randy Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler,
Salman Bhojani and Jason Reyes. Members absent: Mohib Nawab.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Frank Ocampo and Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Susan & Charles Hurd.
INVOCATION
Mr. Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the August
6, 2018 regular meeting. Mr. Reyes made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and
was seconded by Mr. Raab. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Steve Doty — Midway, Blessing Branch, Kiddy Carr, & J.A. Carr: J.A. Carr- lights out in
parking lot, as well as dead tree
b. John Raab—West Park & Wilshire: No items to report.
c. Roger Sickler — Reflection & VOBC: Plaques for trees, and water fountain drain is
plugged.
d. Jason Reyes- South Euless & Heritage: No items to report.
e. Mohib Nawab— Bob Eden and Trailwood: No items to report.
f. Randy Jones— Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.

11. Volunteer of the Quarter

III. Beautification Award
a. Chairman Jones announced the October 2018 Residential Yard of the Month winner is
Mr.Paul Barnes at 212 Fountainview dr. This property adds simplistic beauty to our city, with a
low maintenance appearance and variety of plant species. The plush green lawn contains
vegetation such as Red Bud, Bur Oak trees, and Indian Hawthorn to present a fresh, weed-free
landscape. Thank you for your hard work and efforts in keeping our city looking so great!
b. Chairman Jones announced the October 2018 Business/Civic/Governmental Beautification
award winner goes to Monticello by the Vineyard apartment complex at 2500 Hwy 121, for its
outstanding efforts and capabilities to maintain an eye-catching appearance. This landscape
displays many annual and perennial plants, such as Colevs, Blackfoot daisies, Pentas, Purple
fountain grass, as well as numerous tress to surround the property. The well-maintained property
is always looking pleasant. The city appreciates the dedication required in efforts to keeping the
city looking so best!
IV. Business of the Tree Board
Mr. Reyes reported the following for September:
a. Total man hours for September 1-30 = 930
• 460.00 Horticulture
• 80.00 Forestry
• 235.00 Greenhouse
• 121.00 Special Projects
• 0.00 Training
Trimmed trees at Heritage Park over log cabin.
➢ Raised trees at school zones
➢ Removed Hackberry tree limb and two dead trees at J.A. Carr Park
y Removed fallen tree limbs throughout park system
➢ Hosted educational class with summer camp children at Pauline Greenhouse
