Home My WebLink About2018-10-01 Regular Meeting Parks and Leisure Services Board October 1, 2018 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:59 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman Randy Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Roger Sickler, Jason Reyes and Mohib Nawab. Members absent: Steve Doty Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager Terry Boaz and Recreation Manager Frank Ocampo. Visitors present: None INVOCATION Roger Sickler gave the invocation. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the September 10, 2018 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was seconded by Mr. Raab. The vote was unanimous. I. Board Member Reports a. Steve Doty — Midway & Blessing Branch: Not present. However Mr. Reyes stated that bushes trimmed around Midway marquee on Main St. look great. b. Steve Doty—J.A. Carr& Kiddie Carr: Not present. c. John Raab—West Park&Wilshire Park: Noted a dead tree by the pond at Wilshire. d. Roger Sickler—Villages of Bear Creek & Reflection: Noticed erosion issues at VOBC. e. Jason Reyes-South Euless & Heritage: No items to report. f. Monhib Nawab- Bob Eden Park & Trailwood: He noted that restrooms at BE were out of order, however they were fixed before the meeting. g. Chairman Jones — Parks at Texas Star & Preserve: At the Preserve, there is erosion on the trail, a lot of the gravel has been washed out and the trail map is dark and dingy h. Volunteer of the Month a. No volunteer to report III. Beautification Award of the Month a. Chairman Jones announced the October, 2018 Residential Beautification Award of the Month goes to Paul Barnes at 212 Fountainview Dr., Euless, TX 76039. Recipient not present. b. Chairman Jones announced the October, 2018 Business/Civic/Governmental Beautification Award of the Month goes to Monticello by the Vineyard at 2500 TX 121, Euless, TX 76039. Recipient not present. IV. Business of the Tree Board Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for September: a. Total man hours for September 1—30 =425 • 222.00 Horticulture • 84.00 Forestry • 111.00 Greenhouse • 0.00 Special Projects • 8.00 Training • Trimmed trees at Main St. off of sidewalks • Trimmed trees at McCormick Park • Trimmed limbs off of trails at Bob Eden • Gathered debris from storms and major flooding V. Other New Business Mr. Sickler asked to be updated on the future of Wilshire Park. VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors No input or comments ADJOURNMENT Chairman Jones gave the benediction.
