Historical Preservation Committee
Minutes
November 12, 2018
CALL TO ORDER Chairperson, Mavy Wright, called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. The meeting was held at the Euless City Hall, Euless.
MEMBERS PRESENT Doris Brown, Michele Burger, Norma Lively, Don Martin, Anniece McKanna, Suzy McCormick, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Peggy Vandiver, Andy Weinzapfel and Mavy Wright.
STAFF PRESENT Director of Parks and Community Services, Ray McDonald, Recreation Manager Frank Ocampo and Projects Coordinator Ofa Faiva-Siale.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES Bill Byers’ name was misspelled on the minutes. Doris Brown made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction. Don Martin seconded the motion. All were in favor, minutes approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT The previous balance was $11,203.48. There was an expenditure of $100 to the American Indian Benefit Alliance. There was a deposit of $15 (moneybox). The current balance as of November 12, 2018 was $11,118.48.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS 1. Docents and Volunteer Report/Recruitment—Mavy Wright: a. There were about 20 visitors at the November 10, 2018 open house. b. Read a very nice thank you letter from Lance Tahmahkera. c. Read another thank you letter from the Denton County historical group who recently toured Heritage Park. d. Asked for as many volunteers as possible for the December open house. 2. Acquisition—Gary Parker acquired two sewing patterns for the sewing area. 3. Facebook—no report 4. Plaque—no report 5. Display Signs—no report 6. Publicity/Program/Speakers—no report

7. Historical Albums—Mavy Wright reported that the project is an ongoing one. She will start working on a Mosier Valley album in the near future. 8. Heritage Park—no report 9. Artifact Recovery—Andy Weinzapfel is in the planning stage for the next phase of metal detecting he would like to do. 10. Inventory—Staff reported the following: a. Uploaded all the “Dan Clark” files containing Betty Fuller’s photographs and documents into PastPerfect. The “Dan Clark” numbering system has been converted to the PastPerfect numbering system. b. Staff is currently checking the database to make sure everything transferred correctly into PastPerfect. c. The next phase will be to look at everything in the committee’s Flickr account. We will compare photographs in the Flickr account to PastPerfect to look for missing items and update the PastPerfect database. d. Once we complete these processes, a printout of the inventory will be given to the committee for review. Duplicates and/or missing items may be removed or added at this time. e. The final process will be to tag and number every single item at Heritage Park. f. All new items accepted into the inventory should be photographed. Completed donation forms should be acquired for every item accepted by the committee. Locations for every new item should be noted on the donation form. g. Artifacts should not be moved from its original location without notifying staff to note the change in PastPerfect. A detailed history of each item should be maintained at all times. 11. Historical Tree Program—no report
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 1. If anyone is available to help decorate the Christmas tree on November 28, 2018 please join Mavy Wright and Doris Brown at 10 a.m. at the Fuller House. Staff will make sure the tree is downstairs.
COMMITTEE REPORT 1. Don Martin is photographing different locations in Euless while he is out on citizen’s patrol.
STAFF REPORT 1. Staff reported and/or discussed the following: a. Costs and plans to fix the Fuller House foundation is estimated at over $10,000. There is a possibility that costs can be claimed under the city insurance. Work to fix the foundation will begin next year. Helen Payton and Linda Pool will choose new wallpaper for the Fuller House. Staff will

purchase and install the new wallpaper. Chairperson Mavy Wright recommended that the committee not spend funds until further notice. b. Council appointments and recommendations for 2019: Council appointed Suzy McCormick as Chairperson and Linda Poole as Vice-Chairman. Per the committee bylaw, Council recommended Anniece McKanna for Recording Secretary. Council also recommended that the committee adopt a Treasurer and recommended Mavy Wright for the position.
