MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY,NOVEMBER 1, 2018
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman Snitz at
7:00 p.m. on Thursday,November 1, 2018, in the Conference Room of the Euless Public Library,
1100 Westpark Way. Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz, Board Members Carol
Kveck, Jim Hamilton, and Alternate Leslie Kane. Vice Chairman Allan Gibbs, Board Members
Mike McGehee, Chris McAllister, and Alternate Magen Brown were not present. Chairman Snitz
confirmed that a quorum was present.

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held October 4,
2018. The motion was made by Board Member Kveck and seconded by Alternate Kane.
ITEM NO.3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors present.
ITEM NO. 4 PRESENTED LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
❖ Think Tank Demonstration
Library Director Sherry Knight gave a tour of the "Think Tank" mobile STEM lab. She
highlighted projects showcasing the Think Tank's three main focuses: code, create, and construct
LuAnn Portugal, Euless, TX asked if the library was promoted during these outreach events and
Ms. Knight confirmed that it was.
❖ Classes and Events Update
Ms. Knight gave an overview of the ongoing classes and upcoming events including the popular
"Make It and Take It" craft program, "Purls of Wisdom"knitting group, the children's programs
at the Simmons Center, "Mayor's Holiday Kickoff," and "Snowed in at Simmons." Ms. Knight

also mentioned that the library would be in the City's Parade of Lights this year with the "Think
Tank."
Ms. Knight stated that library visits were down 25% but that is to be expected in the smaller
location. Chairman Snitz commented on how busy it seems at the temporary location. Ms.Knight
also stated that the book locker has been well received and is increasing in usage with about 100
items checked out in October.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz advised members to attend the "Mayor's Holiday Kickoff' and spoke highly of
the Library's spot in the recreation department's "Trunk or Treat" event.
Chairman Snitz gave an update on Mayor Martin's shoulder surgery.
Chairman Snitz made a motion to cancel the December Library Board meeting due to lack of
quorum. All members were in favor.

Board Member Kveck commented on how well the staff is doing at the Simmons Center and stated
that the children enjoy the programs and the parents like the back-to-back programming.
Board Member Hamilton informed the Board about the upcoming "Crud Day" and "Shred Day"
and inquired about the upkeep of the small collection of library books at the Senior Center and Ms.
Knight stated that Senior Librarian Donna Gooch kept up with those materials and that she would
refill as needed.
ITEM NO. 6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
Ms. Portugal inquired about the current amount raised for the ELF'S Bubble Wall fundraiser and
Ms. Knight stated that they had reached almost $65,000. Ms. Portugal asked when the fundraiser
would be complete and Ms. Knight stated that fundraising has been extended until spring.
ITEM NO. 7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. Board Member Kveck made the motion and Board
Member Hamilton seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 7:34 p.m.
