Minutes
January 10, 2011
CALL TO ORDER
The Committee took a tour of the brand new Senior Center. Chair, Bill Golden, called the meeting to
order at 10:30 a.m. The meeting was held at the Senior Center, 300 W. Midway, Euless, Texas.

Martin, Faye Stinneford, Helen Voss, Beth and James Gathings, Gary Parker, David and Veva Lou
Massey, Joe Cannon, Susan Ellis, Iris Elliott, Gary Fieldsend, Perry Brockmeyer, Donna Mickan and
Bill Golden.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Donna Mickan made a motion to approve the minutes. Helen Voss seconded the motion, motion
approved.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Treasurer, Barbara Collier, reported a beginning balance of$6,321.14. There was a total deposit of$238
which included cash from the donation jar and honorariums and memorials. $143.80 was spent on name
plates for the memorial plaque. The current balance is $6,415.34. The City will begin maintaining the
Committees funds and Mrs. Collier will submit the Committee's paper work. She also reminded the
members that purchases for the Committee are tax free. Tax exempt forms are available for anyone
needing one.
DOCENT'S REPORT/RECRUITMENT
1. Gary Fieldsend, Donna Mickan and Bill Golden were docents on Saturday, January 8, 2011. There
were thirty-three visitors that day including a Cub Scout troop. Jan Bellamy was also a docent.
2. Helen Voss, Robert Nail, Bill Golden, Betty Fuller and Mavy Wright volunteered to docent during
the elementary school tour on January 26, 2011. Jan Bellamy also volunteered to docent.

3. The following volunteered to docent at open house on February 12, 2011: Barbara Collier(1-3pm),
Bill Byers (3-5pm), Norma Lively (1-3pm), Helen Payton (3-5pm), Bill Golden (as needed) and
Doris Brown (1-3pm). Jan Bellamy also volunteered to docent during open house.
STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS
1. Calloway Cemetery: Bill Byers reported that the new fence has been completed. Work is being done
on the cemetery sign. The old sign will be hung inside the tabernacle.
2. Plaque Sub-committee—Faye Stinneford noted that the plaque is inside the buffet in the Fuller
House. It needs to be hung.
3. Ruth Millican Center: Helen Voss will be meeting with Gary McKamie regarding the building. She
is excited about turning Fuller House into a "working" house.
4. Library Display/Flickr: Gary Fieldsend reported that the current library display is of the old Western
Hills Inn. Council Member Leon Hogg noted that one of the large signs from the Western Hills Inn
was saved when the building was torn down. He thought the sign may be stored somewhere in the
City. He asked the staff to look into where it is stored. James Gathings volunteered to help Mr.
Fieldsend with photo identification.
5. Evolving History: Barbara Collier and Susan Ellis looked through the photos at the Police
Department. Susan Ellis asked if anyone had back issues of the Mid Cities newspaper, this is a good
source of information for the project. Doris Brown agreed to gather newspaper clippings for the Sub-
committee.
6. Historical Marker Sub-committee: Michael Davenport reported that no one has applied for a local
marker.
CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
1. Bill Golden reported and/or discussed the following:
• The members were asked to update their membership status on each Sub-committee. The
members were also asked to consider dissolving the Calloway Sub-committee as its purpose has
been served.
• In an effort to encourage more members to volunteer to docent, a volunteer sign up list will be
made for the members to sign up on.
• In an effort to advertise Heritage Park open house, Mr. Golden spoke with several businesses
about allowing the Committee to post flyers in their windows about open house. Several
businesses were agreeable to the idea.
• Contacted the St. Abanoub Coptic Orthodox Church about possibly touring the church. The
pastor would be happy to provide a tour for the Committee. Most of the Committee members
were very interested in touring the church. Mr. Golden will schedule a tour to follow the March
meeting. Staff will provide transportation if needed.
• Discussion is in progress with the staff to build a door for the barn.
STAFF REPORT
1. Staff reported and/or discussed the following:
• Staff provided the members with their invitations to the Boards & Commission dinner as well as
updates to their Boards & Commissions folders.

1. Norma Lively expressed the opinion that Euless is superior to all other cities. She thinks the new
Senior Center is absolutely beautiful. Everyone agreed that the center is beautiful.
2. Jan Bellamy will fill out her Board & commission application and turn it in to staff soon.
ADJOURNMENT
David Massey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. James Gathings seconded the motion. Motion
approved.
The meeting adjourned at 1 1:15 a.m.
