HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-12-10Historical Preservation Committee Minutes December 10, 2018 CALL TO ORDER Chairperson, Mavy Wright, called the meeting to order at 10:10 a.m. The meeting was held at the Texas Star Golf Course. MEMBERS PRESENT Doris Brown, Michele Burger, Al Browning, Joe Cannon, Weldon Cannon, David Massey, Veva Lou Massey, Robert Nail, Iris Elliott, Gary Fieldsend, Norma Lively, Marilyn Long, Don Martin, Anniece McKanna, Suzy McCormick, Gary Parker, Helen Payton, Faye Stinneford, Linda Poole, Barbara Collier, Peggy Vandiver, Bill Byers, Andy Weinzapfel, and Mavy Wright VISITORS PRESENT Councilman Thompkins, Councilman Zimmer, Patty Benoit, Mike Poole, Mary Francis Hunt, Cheryl Laws STAFF PRESENT Director of Parks and Community Services, Ray McDonald APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes were approved via motion and a second. TREASURER’S REPORT The previous balance was $11,118.48. There was a total deposit of $33. $26 was from the moneybox and $7 was from the money jar, leaving a current balance of $11,151.48. STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS 1. Docent Reports/Recruitment – No Report 2. Acquisition—No Report 3. Facebook—Linda thanked the staff for announcing the cancellation of the Heritage Park Christmas celebration on Facebook 4. Plaque—No Report 5. Display Signs—Mavy will get with Ofa on signs 6. Publicity/Program/Speakers—Mavy stated that Tommy Simmons from the Grapevine Historical Committee might be a good speaker in the future 7. Historical Albums—Marilyn Long said she is still working on albums but no further work will be done until after the New Year. 8. Heritage Park—No report. 9. Artifact Recovery—Andy gave a report on Mosier Valley Park and will give a more in depth report in January. 10. Historical Tree Program—Andy is working with Randy Leach on getting cuttings and nuts of historic trees. 11. Inventory – Barbara is working with Ofa on inventory, identification, descriptions, etc. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 1. Mavy reported on the new board appointments for 2019. COMMITTEE REPORT 1. There was a Nepalese group which visited the Museum on December 8. There were a total of 11 visitors that day. ADJOURNMENT With no further business, Peggy Vandiver made a motion to adjourn the meeting and the motion was seconded by Marilyn Long. The motion carried.
