Parks and Leisure Services Board
January 7, 2019
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:59 p.m. on
Monday, January 7, 2019 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Randy Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Jason Reyes,
Magen Brown, Kay Seger and Isha Sharma. Members absent: none.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Frank Ocampo and Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Gabriel
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Randy Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
December 3, 2018 regular meeting. Mr. Reyes made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded by Mr. Raab. The vote was unanimous.
I. Election of Officers
Chairman Jones advised that the current Park Board Officers are: Chairman — Randy Jones,
Vice Chairman —John Raab and Secretary—Steve Doty.
The current Tree Board Officers are: Chairman — Jason Reyes and Vice Chairman — Roger
Sickler.
Chairman Jones stated that each officer will be elected by nomination and then vote of the
Park Board. He opened the floor for nominations.
Steve Doty made a motion to nominate Randy Jones for Chairman of the Park Board. The
motion was seconded by John Raab. With no other nominations the vote to approve was
unanimous.

Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate John Raab for Vice Chairman of the Park Board.
The motion was seconded by Steve Doty. With no other nominations the vote to approve
was unanimous.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate Steve Doty for Secretary of the Park Board. The
motion was seconded by Jason Reyes. With no other nominations the vote to approve was
unanimous.
John Raab made a motion to nominate Jason Reyes for Chairman of Tree Board. The
motion was seconded by Roger Sickler. With no other nominations the vote to approve
was unanimous.
Steve Doty made a motion to nominate Roger Sickler for Vice Chairman of Tree Board. The
motion was seconded by John Raab. With no other nominations the vote to approve was
unanimous.
The new 2019 Park Board officers are: Chairman — Randy Jones, Vice Chairman — John
Raab and Secretary—Steve Doty.
The new 2019 Tree Board officers are: Chairman —Jason Reyes and Vice Chairman — Roger
Sickler.
II. Board Member Reports

b. Magen Brown —J.A. Carr& Kiddie Carr: No items to report.
c. Kay Seger— Preserve & Mcormick: Graffiti on signs and some rails down.
d. Jason Reyes-VOBC & Reflection: No items to report.
e. Randy Jones—S. Euless & Heritage: No items to report.
f. Roger Sickler—Westpark & Wilshire: Creek trash/rain washed out baseball fields.
g. John Raab — Bob Eden &Trailwood: No items to report.
h. Steve Doty—Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.
i. Chairman Jones reported on the special events:

III. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for December:
a. Total man hours for December 1-31 = 791
• 436.00 Horticulture
• 104.00 Forestry
• 65.00 Greenhouse
• 158.00 Special Projects
• 28.00 Training
➢ Started to sow acorns for the Arbor Daze Festival, currently have 500 acorns
with roots.
Park checks completed for downed limbs and potential hazards.
➢ Trimmed trees at J. A Carr Park, Villages of Bear Creek Park and Kiddie Carr
Park.
IV. Staff Report— Frank Ocampo
• Update on EFLC renovations and projects for FY19
V. Directors Report—RaV McDonald
• Parks project updates/completions.
• Departmental/staff responsibilities to inform new members.
• CIP projects overview to inform new members.
Chairman Randy Jones thanked the staff for their report.
VI. Other New Business
No new business.
VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
Mr. Gabriel presented pictures to the board of creek erosion/clean up in Euless.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 8:41 p.m.
