HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-09-12 FINAL MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD September 12, 2018 ITEM 1 — CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor at 11:32 A.M. at the City of Euless Public Works Facility, 1513 Westpark Way, Euless, Texas 76040. The following members were in attendance: Dr. Susan Read City Council Member Eddie Price Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor Bedford Animal Control Officer Scott Cepak Staff Members Present: Assistant Director of Public Works James Whitt Animal Control Officer Jodan Shelton Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour Guests Present: Becky Wise - Mid-Cities Community Cats Barbara and Guest — Mid-Cities Community Cats ITEM 2 — REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM NOVEMBER 15, 2017 Director Cranor asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of June 13, 2018. With no questions or comments, the minutes were accepted as written. ITEM 3 — UPDATE ON GAP GAP will be holding a Pet Fair on 9/29 from 10:00am — 2:00 pm at Trinity High School. They will be having a garage sale, various activities and vendors and will be offering low cost vaccines and micro chipping. ITEM 4— QUARTERLY REPORT Composite of quarterly calls for service were distributed along with case statistics per species. Specifics of the case statistics were discussed including an increase in animals at large calls and specifically, an explanation of the meaning offence condition and cruelty / neglect calls. Page 1 of 2 ITEM 5 — SHELTER / FACILITY UPDATE ACO Shelton reported the following: • "Clear the Shelter" was held on 8/18 with 13 cats and 11 dogs being adopted. Discussed regional and national statics for animal adoptions during this national event. • A young man donated cat & dog food to the shelter for his 8t" birthday. • Two Public Works crew members have taken and passed their Basic Animal Control class. • Animal Shelter personnel have taken additional training. • Sun shades have been installed in the dog park area at the shelter. ITEM 6 — QUESTIONS / COMMENTS Mid-Cities Community Cats mentioned that the City of Euless does not currently have a policy on TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, release) and asked if this is something the City would consider setting up a study in order to see how this type of program impacts the Shelter. Director Cranor indicated that the City has no plans at this time to do so. Director Cranor asked if there were any further questions or comments pertaining to the meeting.
