He suggested that maybe the city could use teens from court who needed to work off their traffic violation fines. Mr. Ebert also mentioned he had lunch at the Raven's Grille today and there was a banner draped over the large rock at the entrance to Texas Star Parkway and Highway 10. He passed the drawings around so the Board could see what landscaping was proposed. He further mentioned the Parks Department had been involved in many projects this past month. Also, the water usage this last month had been higher than usual due to the lack of rain; they have had many problems with insects and web worms recently; and the grounds maintenance hours are down from last year due to the large number of ozone days this summer. Mr. Green also advised the Board the Parks Department has three openings at the present time and they are trying to get these positions filled as soon as possible. One of the positions open is an Urban Forester which would be a great asset to the department but the department would consider hiring an Arborist as an alternative position.
