in the park. Mrs. Waldrup stated she did not go to Kiddie Carr Park.
Mrs. Byers said with all the rains there had been an area washed out near the entrance to Bob
Eden Park. At Trailwood Park she found two green posts with no signs on them and there was a
wood sign which needed attention.
Mr. Robinson reported much progress had been made at the athletic complex. He said it looked
like all the concrete had been poured and the plumbing was being installed. He said the
amphitheater and pavilion building were starting to take shape and more recognizable. He asked
if the city had taken possession of the 27 acres nearby?
Parks Superintendent Johnnie Green advised the Board that the city had bought the adjoining
property.
Mr. Hollinger stated he was not able to inspect South Euless or Ruth Millican parks.
Mr. Ebert said he was not sure which were his assigned parks.
Chairman McNeese said Midway and Blessing Branch parks had been assigned to Mr. Ebert.
Mr. McNeese reported the Arbor Daze Silent Auction was a success and lots of fun and he hoped
everyone would attend next year if they weren't able to attend this year.
NEW BUSINESS
I. Parks Report
There was no report due to Mr. Herold being out of town.
II. Leisure Services Report
Julia Wakeley, Parks and Leisure Services Manager, stated the Arbor Daze Silent Auction was a
great success and they raised a little over $19,000.00 compared to last years total of$12,000.00.
There were more than 300 registered guests for the auction this year. Home Depot was a major
sponsor and donated many nice gifts for the auction.

The re-grand opening of Softball World was held on Sunday, February 23rd, and the concession
area took in about $2,500.00. Mrs. Wakeley stated she would be attending a Keep America
Beautiful meeting on Tuesday, March 4, in North Richland Hills and would report to the Board
next month on the meeting. Carolyn Park and Helen Lightbody were also planning to attend the
meeting with her. The new addition of the Leisure Times with new programs, the athletic
complex and golf course would be out soon. Mrs. Wakeley stated the Arbor Daze gala dinner is
scheduled for Thursday, April 17th.
Mr. Robinson inquired if Mrs. Wakeley has met with the sports association yet? She stated she is
scheduled to meet with the association this month.
Mr. Miller mentioned he recently called the city and was not able to talk with a live person and
asked that someone please check into this. Most citizens would rather talk with a person instead
of leaving a message. Mrs. Wakeley said she would check into the matter.
Parks Superintendent Johnnie Green stated the new golf course will open in late May with the
dinning room opening a little later.
Mr. Hollinger asked how the course was holding up due to the recent rains? Mr. Green said the
course and greens are holding up but have had a problem with one of the dams and the creek
banks have also been a problem.
III. Business of the Tree Board
Chairman McNeese stated that to date 42,137 trees have been planted. He further stated he
would have a schedule next month for the Board Members when they work the Tree Booth
during Arbor Daze.
Mr. Miller mentioned that one of his students parents have some property outside the city which
has many trees on it and the city is welcome to come out and get any of the trees which they
might want for free.
IV. Other New Business
Chairman McNeese stated there was not any new business for discussion.

V. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
Council Member Leon Hogg stated he had nothing to report.
Mr. James Taylor, President of the Euless Girls Softball Association(EGSA), was present
requesting permission for use of the fields in order for the teams to practice. He said they had
375 girls (10 teams) registered at the present time. Mrs. Wakeley said she has not met with the
Mid-Cities Youth Activity Counsel (MCYAC) yet but will next week and she will see what can be
done. She stated that presently there are not enough practice fields in town.
Chairman McNeese suggested that since Mrs. Wakeley has not met with MCYAC, that Mr.
Taylor coordinate with the staff for finding vacant property for their practices.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman McNeese gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the
meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
