PARK AND LEISURE SERVICES BOARD
March 7, 1994
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to
order at 7:01 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 1994, in the Council Chambers of the
Euless Municipal building by Chairman Leon Hogg. Other members present were
Messrs. Eric Owens, Jerry Robinson, Richard McNeese, Stephen O'Brien, Mrs.
Lynne Moffatt, and Stacey Hollinger, alternate. Chuck Behrns and Julia
Wakeley were absent.
Also present were Rick Herold-Community Services Director and Beverly Walter-
Recording Secretary.
VISITORS
Visitors included Avona Cardona, EGSA representative.
INVOCATION
The invocation was given by Lynne Moffatt.
MINUTES
Leon entertained a motion of the minutes. Richard motioned to approve the
minutes of February 7, 1994, which was seconded by Eric, and unanimously
passed.
AWARD PRESENTATION
There was no award presentation.
GUEST SPEAKERS
Jerry Poteet, Assistant Building Supervisor, gave an informative and
interesting speech on the topics "Recreation Gang Problems" and "Recreation
in the Year 2010".
OLD BUSINESS
BOARD MEMBER REPORTS
New park assignments will be made next meeting.
Lynne expressed Villages looked fine and very busy. She was unable to get by
McCormick.
Richard McNeese apologized for not having a Special Events report.
Stephen commented on Bob Eden and Lakewood; Lakewood being extremely busy
with soccer season.
Jerry said Kiddie Carr had lots of walkers and looked great. Oakwood Terrace
had no change but anxious to remove the pavillion.
Eric spoke of Wilshire's trimmed trees and how well it looked. West Park had
alot of activity with both softball fields being used.
NEW BUSINESS
After discussion with the board, Richard made a motion that the fields and
facilities be made available for use by various teams and associations,
whether day or night, when available and staff approved. The motion was
seconded by Lynne and carried unanimously.
A revised "Capital Improvement Needs" report was reviewed with notation to Bob
Eden Phase I addition. Jerry motioned that the board approve the updated
"Capital Improvement Needs" report as of March 7, 1994, Richard seconded and
was passed unanimously.

PARKS REPORT
Rick began with concerned updates on board member Chuck Behrns' son, and
Parks' employees Jerry Crane and Marty Wiltshire.
Rick spoke about programs and on possible neighborhood "Madness" programs. The
Community Betterment Fund will be on the agenda next month. A talk followed
regarding gangs and vandalism with Rick complimenting our Chief of Police's
dedication.
Arbor Daze will have a grand "Gala" on Thursday evening, April 21st, Mayor's
Reception noted at 9: am on Friday followed by the State Celebration at 11 :00
a.m. . Arbor Daze information was discussed in more detail .

LEISURE SERVICES REPORT
Julia was out of town so Rick's report included her information.
III.
BUSINESS OF THE TREE BOARD
Richard referred to the Tree Report and discussion of the tree give away at
Arbor Daze.
IV.
INPUT FROM CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
No council members were present.
V.
INPUT FROM VISITORS
Avona Cardona briefed the board on Girl 's Softball and Jubilee Day on April
9th.
ADJOURNMENT
Leon Hogg gave the closing prayer.
There being no further business to conduct, the meeting adjourned at 8:48p.m.
