PARK AND LEISURE SERVICES BOARD
JANUARY 3, 1994
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to
order at 7:02p.m. on Monday, January 3, 1993, in the Council Chambers of the
Euless Municipal building by Chairman Leon Hogg. Other members present were
Messrs. Eric Owens, Jerry Robinson, Richard McNeese, Lynne Moffatt, Stephen
O'Brien, and Chuck Behrn and Stacey Hollinger, alternates.
Also present were Rick Herold-Community Services Director, Julia Wakeley-Parks
and Leisure Services Manager and Beverly Walter-Recording Secretary.
VISITORS
Visitors included Councilman Charlie Miller, Richard and Ginger Moore, and
EGSA representative Avona Cardona.
INVOCATION
The invocation was given by Richard McNeese.
MINUTES
Leon Hogg entertained a motion to approve the minutes of December 6, 1993 with
the following corrections: The approval of the minutes corrections were
motioned by Richard and seconded by Stephen with the motion passed
unanimously, New Business-corrections of National Arbor Day and Lynne & Alan
Moffatt, III-Business of the Tree Board correction clarifying the city's
responsibility of tree triming which will turn over to the local Arborist
Urban Forester, Jerry's report specifying the gazebo is at Carr which was also
checked out, Park Plan-time frame for funding and dates 1994-1995, Parks
Report-Trojan signs.
Richard motioned the amendments moved to be approved, seconded by Eric, and
unanimously passed.
AWARD PRESENTATION
Richard McNeese presented Richard and Ginger Moore the Volunteer of the Month
plaque.
OLD BUSINESS
I.
BOARD MEMBER REPORTS
Leon Hogg welcomed Stacey Hollinger, the new alternate to the Board.
Lynne reported her parks looked very good. Villages of Bear Creek was busy and
McCormick quiet as usual .
Stephen said nothing appeared unusual at his parks, Lakewood and Bob Eden.
Richard, Special Events, commented on several functions Julia's staff were
involved in and she would fill in details.
Jerry said J.A. Carr, Kiddie Carr, Oakwood Terrace all looked great.
West Park, ball field especially, was in good shape and Wilshire Park still
had construction according to Eric.
Chuck was unable to see Midway and Blessing Branch.
Leon spoke of some vandalism.
NEW BUSINESS
I.
PARKS REPORT
Rick Herold related some additional vandalism, gang related, that was
repairable. The Christmas recycling is Saturday, January 8th, 8:00am to noon
(volunteers are welcomed) and trees & mulch will be given to citizens,
Update of the work session meeting, January 10th, was discussed.
Rick asked to note some dates the board members may wish to participate, which
will be filmed by Channel 8:
Police Dept. - Town Hall meeting on Thursday, 13th of January, at 7pm at
Oakwood Terrace Elemenatry.
Midway Rec Center- Mid-Cities Town (tall Meeting at 7pm, Thursday, January
13th
Police Dept.- Town Hall meeting at South Euless Elementary, January 20th,
at 7pm.
February 18th, 7pm, at the Midway Rec Center is the Appreciation Dinner.
Meeting on land acquistion was discussed.
Jerry Crane's retirement "Roast" will be 11:30am, Friday, January 14th at the
Ruth Millican center. Parks employees will be getting a new break room.

LEISURE SERVICES REPORT
Julia began with how busy Leisure Services was this last month: Music Shoppe
with Chuck Pyle, Senior Christmas luncheon, Employee luncheon, and Country
Christmas musical were discussed along with the next intended musical.
Charlie Miller gave suggestions for increased revenue.
Preschoolers attended their annual Casa Manana Chrismas play.
Julia commented on the new Leisure Times, its' distribution, and new programs.
Rick and Julia mentioned the Arbor Daze 1994 start up, possible sponsor
"Snappel", and the Shoppe performing.
III.
BUSINESS OF THE TREE BOARD
Richard spoke on the highlights information and completion of certification of
Tree USA. Next there was discussion regarding the 1+1=2 tree program (the
work session will go into detail).
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Election of officers for 1994 were held. The officers were as follows:
Parks and Leisure Services Board: Chairman Leon Hogg
Vice Chairman Richard McNeese
Secretary Eric Owens
Tree Board: Chairman Richard McNeese
Vice Chairman Jerry Robinson

INPUT FROM CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS
Charlie Miller complimented the staff and board members.
V.
INPUT FROM VISITORS
Richard and Ginger Moore also gave suggestions for revenue for musicals and
discussed tree removal .
Charlie inquired on the Town Meetings.
Avona discussed an EGSA issue.

There being no further business to conduct, the meeting adjourned at 8:07pm.
