The minutes of the meeting dated August 02, 1993, were approved as written.
SPEAKE P
Bo Bass spoke on the ISTEA Grant Program. The program creates money for
states to let as grant honey. We will be submit ing an application for grant
money for bikeways and walkways along the Mid-Cis.ies corridor along with two
other submissions. There are many categories to apply for grant mon3y, Scenic
Landscape Development and Historic Preservation being just two of the areas.
Bo also spoke about parkland dedication ordinances. This ordinance would
allow the city to go in at the time of platting and require the developer to
include parkland in the form of land, money, or site improvements. Bo
discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the ordinance and passed out a
memorandum describing the ordinance.

Jerry Rubinson reported that his parks, J.A. Carr Park, Kiddie Carr Park, and

Classes for the first fall session have begun with 407 participants.
The s},;ior progrc , is expanding and offering new opportunities such as
aerobics, bowling leagues, soap o,pc'ra club and more.
Fifteen te17,1 have registered for volleyball, which is the same number of
tears as last year's all time high for fall volleyball.

Eric asked when the Westpark sign will be replaced. JErry said that Rick had
said they ,ere waiting on the entrar 'e.
Julia repe,•ted that Rick is looking over the sur,ey. 38% were returned. Leon
asked if the board could be sent the results as soon as they are finished so
they can look over it before he next meeting.

In Rick's absence, the Tree Board report will be given next month.

Councilmember Henry Boatright said that the land situation is progressingas
best as it can. Rick has been given the green light on this. Councilmember
Boatright said that there is not really an estimated date yet. He also said
the council will be talking about Southwestern Bell contract at their next
meeting. It is a difficult issue.
