OLD BUSINESS I. BOARD MEMBERS REPORTS Chuck Behrns reported that his parks are Blessing Branch and Midway. The ballfields have been busy at Midway. He inquired about a large pothole being repaired. Rick said it would be looked into. Jerry asked if the lot where the Christmas tree lot is held will be paved. Rick said there are not any immediate plans for this. Chuck said that Blessing Branch looks good although it did not have much activity. Eric Owens said that his two parks are Wilshire and Westpark. He expressed concern over the drainage problems at Wilshire. He suggested sending this problem to the City Engineer. Leon said this could be put on the June agenda. Leon said that years ago homes were flooding in that area so the drainage system was designed to drain into the park instead of into the homes. Jerry Robinson said that his areas are J.A. Carr Park, Kiddie Carr Park, and Oakwood Terrace. He said that J.A. Carr park gets a lot of use from walkers and joggers. Kiddie Carr Park is not heavily used. Oakwood Terrace receives a lot of use from neighborhood children. Leon said he heard a lot of good comments at Arbor Daze about our parks. Lynne said McCormick park looks good but there is little activity there. She has been asked about the lack of grass on the soccer fields at Villages of Bear Creek. She is still concerned about drainage in both parks. Rick said the fields were overseeded with winter rye that has died out now. They will be overseeded with Bermuda soon so they will be green all year long. Richard said that the Easter Egg Hunt and Arbor Daze were held during April . He said that Arbor Daze really provoked a sense of satisfaction and pride. Stephen O'Brien reported that his parks, Van Riet and Del Norte, look fine. II. DISCUSSION OF OLD IRON BRIDGE Julia reported that Historical Preservation Committee decided that since the 6th graders could not participate in the Spring the Committee would rather wait and have the celebration in the Fall and include the 6th graders. Rick said the signs are in and they look good. NEW BUSINESS I. PARKS REPORT Rick reported that the Council met concerning land acquisition and was favorable toward continuing to look at tracts of land. A local broker is trying to get more information to the City Manager about this. Rick said there is a meeting Thursday to get our trail system on the Council of Governments' plans to be eligible for ISTEA funds. Our entire corridor should be very easy to get funding for. Staff will keep board up-to-date on this. Rick said that we continue to learn new ideas for Arbor Daze. He related a few stories about Arbor Daze. Lynne said South Euless PTA was very pleased with how their two booths did. Leon asked if staff would give the board a tally of the sample of some of the comments.
