PARK AND RECREATION BOARD
August 29, 1988
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Board was called to order at
6:30 PM, Monday, August 29, 1988 in the Council Chambers of the Euless
Municipal Building by Mrs. Helen Lightbody. Board members present were Mrs.
Helen Lightbody, Mary Lib Saleh, Bonnie O'Brien and Messrs. Richard McNeese
and Leon Hogg.
Also present were Julia Wakeley, Recreation Director; Rick Herold, Park
Director; Jay Heilman, Director of Community Services; and Diretha Crockett,
recording secretary.
INVOCATION
The invocation was given by Mrs. Mary Lib Saleh.
VISITORS
Visitors attending the meeting were Mr. Peter Krause.
MINUTES
The minutes of the regular meeting dated August 1 were approved as read.
OLD BUSINESS
Mrs. Mary Lib Saleh reported that she had gotten in contact and spoke with Mr.
Lynn Shackelford regarding the sprinkler system at the new Park & Recreation
facility currently under construction. Mrs. Saleh stated that Mr. Shackelford
had assured that there was money budgeted for the sprinkler system and would
be included.
Parks and Wildlife Grant
Mr. Rick Herold reported that the Park grant was denied by the Texas Parks &
Wildlife Department. He further stated that only one city in our region was
funded due to limited funds in the program. Most of the money went to areas
they considered very good for park and recreational opportunities. The grant
will be resubmitted for consideration in January, 1989.

Volunteer of the Month
It was brought to the Board's attention that a Volunteer of the Month needed
to be chosen for the months of September and October. A motion was made and
carried that Ruth Millican be named the Parks & Recreation Board' s Volunteer
of the Month for September and Jenny Payton be named for October. A further
nomination was made and carried that Alice Ernest be named Volunteer of the
Month for the month of November.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to conduct, the meeting adjourned at 7:00 PM
with a closing prayer by Helen Lightbody. A tour of the City parks was to
follow.
