Looking at the December 2018

that Euless income levels have
steadily increased over time and
that new residential construction
was up last year (compared
to 2017). The Planning and
Development Department creates

City Council Election – May 4
*NEW LOCATION* Euless Family Life Senior Center, 300 W. Midway Dr.
The City of Euless will be holding an election on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Due
to construction at the Library, Early Voting and Election Day Voting will be
held at the Euless Family Life Senior Center.
Early voting by personal appearance will begin on Monday, April 22, and will
end on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, and the hours designated for early voting by
personal appearance are:

April 27 Saturday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

2018 CPR Blitz
Volunteers Needed
April 5 - 6, 8 a.m.
6 Stones Campus West
209 N. Industrial
The City of Euless has revitalized over 200 homes
since the inception of the CPR program. Over the
years, thousands of volunteers have helped repair
homes in one weekend, and now we are inviting you
to help us do it again. Volunteers will be assigned
a home after check in. A light breakfast and lunch
will be provided. Please bring gloves, ladders, rakes,
shovels and push brooms if you have them. Register

out a volunteer waiver ahead of time.
Springtime on the Plaza
April 13, 4 - 7 p.m.
Glade Parks Plaza
300 block of Chisholm Trail
Please join us for a free event on the Plaza that
includes face painting, balloon art and pictures with
the Easter bunny. Attendees will also have a chance
to paint their own canvas at Cloth and Glaze that
will all be pieced together to create a spring scene
mural.
Learn Bokashi Composting

Maybe you’re trying to go green but don’t have
the space for a compost bin. That’s where bokashi
composting comes in handy. Basically a system
of fermentation, the method has its roots in the
Korean pickling tradition. Bokashi composting
makes it possible for those with little space outside
to compost food waste. This method also allows
you to compost oily foods and meat scraps that
don’t belong in an outdoor compost heap. Speaker
Daniel Cunningham with Texas A&M Agrilife
Research will teach participants about this newer
composting practice.

2018 GAP Club Walk-a-Thon
Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. - noon
Trinity High School Track
500 N. Industrial Blvd.
Trinity High School’s Girls Awareness Program
(GAP) is hosting a walk-a-thon to raise funds for
the Euless Animal Shelter. Families are invited to
bring their dogs on a leash for the Walk-a-Thon
or walk a shelter dog during the event. Teams
will have opportunities to win prizes. Low-cost
microchipping and adoptions will be available
during the walk.
This dynamic group of young women works hard
to find homes for the dogs at the Euless Animal
Shelter. In addition, they have made it their personal
responsibility to love on, play with, groom, foster
and raise money to pay for veterinary services. If
you would like to form a walk-a-thon team or give

Plant and Seed Swap
Saturday, April 13, 1 - 5 p.m.
Heritage Park

You don’t have to have a green thumb or even plants
to attend the Plant Swap. If you are a beginning
gardener, please join us and talk to BEE Garden
Club volunteers who have been in your shoes.
If you have more experience, bring some of your
spare plants, cuttings and seeds to trade for some
new beauties to add to your own garden. The best
part about gardening is sharing beautiful plants
with your friends and neighbors.
The Plant and Seed Swap is being held in
conjunction with the Heritage Park Open House.
So, after you exchange some plants, plan to visit
the Euless Heritage Museum, Himes Log House,
Fuller House or McCormick Barn and learn about
the history behind the City of Euless.

is beginning to play an important role in
the future of agriculture. Aquaponics is a
soil-less growing technique that utilizes
fish and water as a growing medium.
Special guest speaker Warren Wilson will
teach participants about aquaponics and
how you can benefit from it in your own
home. There are several advantages of
aquaponics including water conservation,
stronger root systems and organic
gardening.
This presentation will help you understand
the key principles and components
necessary for growing fish and plants
together in a recirculating soil-less system.
It is ideal for people who want to build
their own aquaponics system, but don’t

2018 Arbor Daze 2019
Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
(Main Stage opens at 5 p.m.)
Euless Family Life Center
300 W. Midway Drive
Join the fun at Arbor Daze, the ultimate family
festival! There will be community entertainment,
bounce houses, a Kidz Zone, tree giveaways, food-
eating contests, a scavenger hunt and concessions.
Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets for all of the
live entertainment. For more details and performance

A 30-plus year “Tree City USA” recipient, the City
of Euless is proud of its many “tree-mendous”
accomplishments promoting Arbor Day. Each attendee
of the festival will receive a free tree. The urban tree
canopy has been dwindling for decades, and the Arbor
Daze Festival has given over 150,000 trees since its
inception. Most of these trees have been planted in the
immediate area to replenish the local tree population.

The Natatorium is available for rentals for parties. Rental includes use of the party room and the pool.
Open Swim Party Rental (up to 12 swimmers) Resident: $100 Non-resident: $250
Includes admission for up to 12 swimmers and 2-hour rental of party room. This rental can be done during any
open swim time from Monday – Sunday. (See pg. 14 for natatorium hours.)
Private Party Rental (up to 40 swimmers) Resident: $175 Non-resident: $425
Includes admission for up to 40 swimmers and 2-hour rental of party room. Times available: Saturday or
Sunday, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
A $250 deposit is required for rental. Pa rty room capacity is 40 and seats 20 comfortably. Renter may bring in
cake and drinks. All rental fees are due at time of reservation. The rental may be made a maximum of 60 days
in advance and a minimum of 14 days notice. Due to lifeguard staffing requirements no additional guests may

LEVEL 3:
STROKE DEVELOPMENT
5-15 yrs. Build on skills they already know such as
freestyle and back crawl but focus on swimming
technique such as rhythmic breathing, propelling kick and
proper pull. You will learn elementary backstroke, scissors
kick, dolphin kick and build on the fundamentals of
treading water. Prerequisite: Participants entering this
course must have a Level 2 certificate or must be able to
demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 2.

STROKES & TURNS
5-15 yrs. Focuses on stroke refinement and proficien-
cy and build on strokes they already know such as
freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, scissor kick, and
dolphin kick. Will learn the arms for sidestroke and
butterfly, starts and turns, maintaining streamline
position. This course will build endurance that is
necessary to be able to swim efficiently while maintain-
ing a streamline position. Prerequisite: Participants
entering this course must have a Level 3 certificate or
must be able to demonstrate all the completion
requirements in Level 3.
