MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, APRIL 4, 2019
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman Snitz at
7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019, in the Board Room of the Library, 1100 Westpark Way.
Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz,Vice Chairman Allan Gibbs,Board Members Jim
Hamilton, Mike McGehee, and Chris McAllister. Board Member Leslie Kane was not present.

LuAnn Portugal, Euless, Texas.
ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held March 7,
2019. The motion was made by Board Member Hamilton and seconded by Board Member
McAllister.
ITEM NO. 3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors that were present.
ITEM NO. 4 PRESENTED LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
❖ HEB Reads! Update
Library Director Sherry Knight gave an overview of the upcoming HEB Reads! Kickoff and the
upcoming summer reading challenge collaboration with Hurst Public Library, Bedford Public
Library, and the HEB School District. Ms. Knight also mentioned that the library would be
collaborating with the Euless Parks and Recreation Summer Camps to bring those attendants to
the events that will happen every Monday at the Euless Family Life Senior Center.
•S Construction Update
Ms. Knight gave an update on the progress of the construction of the library explaining that the
spray foaming insulation was completed and that framing and drywalling would soon begin.

Board Member Hamilton inquired about the date of installation on the finishes and Ms. Knight
stated that it would be one of the last things to do.
❖ Classes & Events Update
Ms. Knight gave an overview of past and present classes and events including "Edible Book
Contest,""Springtime on the Plaza"at Glade Parks,"Plant the Seeds of Reading,"and"2°a Annual
Regional Spelling Bee Championship,""Arbor Daze," and the "HEB Reads! Kickoff' in May.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz informed the Board about election dates and candidates.
Chairman Snitz inquired about when the Board would be able to tour the progress of the library
construction.
Chairman Snitz invited the Board to a live music event at Texas Star Golf Course and Conference
Center.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Chairman Snitz inquired about the progress on the fundraiser for the Bubble Wall and Vice
Chairman Gibbs informed the Board about the Euless Library Foundation's GoFundMe page, as
well as a donor that will match donations up to a total of $5,000. Vice Chairman Gibbs also
mentioned other potential ideas.
Board Member McAllister inquired about a deadline for the fundraiser and Vice Chairman Gibbs
stated that the Foundation hopes to have the final total by September 1, 2019.
Library Board Members
Board Member Hamilton gave the Board an update on a couple of other events that are happening

in the City like the Senior Health Expo and the name of the band at the Texas Star event.
ITEM NO. 6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
LuAnn Portugal of Euless,TX gave an overview of developmental updates taking place in the city.
Ms.Portugal inquired about the plan for the teen patrons. Ms. Knight stated that the teen programs
would resume after the library moved back to Ector. Ms.Knight also stated that the Adult Services
Supervisor Librarian is working with the new librarian at Trinity High School to explore potential
collaboration opportunities.
Vice Chairman Gibbs inquired about having a teen representative on the Library Board.

ITEM NO. 7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Vice Chairman Gibbs
and seconded by Board Member Hamilton. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
