II.
MIDWAY POOL BATH HOUSE
Mr. Theder stated that for years
Midway pool had needed a bath house facility. He said he talked
with Mr. Sustaire and he had okayed the go ahead to talk with
Schrickel about drawing up plans for a bath house. He said he
plans to talk with Mr. Lindsey and the pool managers and get some
of their recommendations based on experience.
Mr. Theder stated that although
the need is apparent, he recommended that rather than go ahead with
plans for a bath house now, which would probably cost in the neigh-
borhood of $30,000 to build, that they apply for a grant for the
bath house and other improvements for Midway Park, such as the
drainage problem, ballfield lighting and irrigation. He said
that in talking with Schrickel, they had informed him that it
would be possible to apply for a grant before July, in which case,
the City, with matching funds, could build a bath house and also
make improvements to the park as well.
Mr. Lindsey stated that several
items had been brought up as far as improvements for the bath
houses and bath house plans . He listed these as improving doors
security, locks for concessions areas, eliminating space above
dressing rooms, lockers for valuables, larger rastrooms, vandal
proof sinks and commodes, and security lights for the buildings .
Mr. Lindsey stated that the biggest
overall improvement to Midway Park would be to tear down the old
structure and build a new bath house.
Mr: Theder stated that he would
have more information on the possibility of a grant for this
project at the next meeting. He stated that by looking into a
grant they were delaying immediate plans for a bath house, but
either way plans for a bath house would be drawn up.
III.
SCHOOL TENNIS COMPLEX
Mr. Theder stated that Rev.
Traster was to report on this project at this meeting, but was
unable to attend because he had broken his leg on a skiing trip.
He requested that this be an item on the next month's agenda.
IV.
KIDDIE CARR PARK
Mrs . McCormick informed the
Board that the Council is having an open hearing on the development
(Page 4, Called Meeting, Parks & Recreation Board, Jan. 24, 1977)
of Kiddie Carr Park as a requirement for the grant. The City has
applied for a $20,000 grant for this development, which she said,
would be presented by the Assistant City Manager John Lynch.
She stated that the Council feels very optimistic.
