HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-11-11 Regular Meeting Parks and Recreation Board November 11, 1975 • CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board was called to order by Chairman Jay Theder at 7:45 P.M. at the Simmons Drive Community Center. Members present were Mrs. Zella Stierwalt and Rev. Elden Traster. Mr. Olin Steele arrived at 9:00 p.m. (Absent were Mr. David Williams and Mrs . Jolly Rawlings. ) Also present was Parks and Recrea- tion Director Frank Lindsey. VISITORS The visitors in attendance were Messrs . James Schierling, Ron Yamamoto, Philip H. Pettren, Alfred N. Howle, Nathan Jones , Claude Brown and Bill Dunn. INVOCATION The invocation was given by Mr. Frank Lindsey. I. DIRECTOR'S REPORT *See attached copy. Rev. Traster asked if the VFW drum and bugle core might be able to use the Simmons Center for practice. Mr. Lindsey said he would look at the schedule of activities for that building. II. MID-CITIES BIBLE CHURCH Mr. Dunn introduced the elders of the Mid-Cities Bible Church. Mr. Brown expressed his appre- ciation for the use of the Civic Center for their Church services. They stated the history and purpose of the Mid-Cities Bible Church and asked for a sixty day extension on the usage of the Community Building, if there was no other demand for it. (Page Two, Regular Meeting, Park & Recreation Board, Nov. 11, 1975) Mr. Theder asked if arrangements had been made for a definite time to be in a permanent location. They stated every effort was being made, but at present this remained a factor unable to completely evaluate. Due to a quorum not being present at that time, the matter was tabled until a called meeting could be set where all the board members could be present to vote. It was made clear and they did understand that they ought to relinquish usage of the facility at any time any other Euless organization requests usage. III. RECREATION CLASS FEES It was suggested that this item be placed on the next agenda and that Mr. Lindsey accumu- late data pertaining to operational expense of the City's faci- lities. IV. MID-CITY PARK Mr. Theder was to contact Mr. Sustaire pertaining to a Mid-City neighborhood park that could be situated on existing property until further development takes place. V. FOURTH OF JULY - 1976 Following a discussion, Mr. Steele made the motion that Mr. Lindsey look into a July 4, 1976 program for Euless. Rev. Traster seconded the motion. The motion carried. VI. PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR MOSIER VALLEY Mr. Steele was donating some play- ground equipment to the Mosier Valley Recreation Center. Mr. Lindsey was directed to work out these details with Mr. Sustaire. • ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 10:50 P.M. APPROVED: Chairman
