Members present were Mrs. Carolyn Griffin and Messrs. Charles Hunt and Jay Theder. (Absent were Mrs. Jolly Rawlings, Councilman Harold Copher, and Mr. David Williams). Also present were Park and Rec- reation Director Frank Lindsey and Recording secretary Denise Holden. INVOCATION The invocation was given by Mr. Lindsey. I. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Mr. Lindsey had given a complete report at the regular Park and Recreation Board meeting, but updated the Board on a newly proposed class on Dough Sculpture scheduled to start after the first of the year. II. WEST EULESS PARK Mr. Theder gave a report from the last Council meeting where the Council expressed their feelings that Big State Contractors should be assessed damages for over extending their 90-day contract. They also took the recommendation as previously submitted by the Park Board to allow them thirty (30) additional days grace for any inconvenience that may have occurred. Mr. Lindsey submitted projections on next year's athletic program which showed the need for additional lit space if the program's needs are to be met. (See attached form) A discussion on West Euless was held at length with the conclusion that more data was needed. Mr. Lindsey was requested to meet with Mr. Charles Page and see the minimum candle-light power needed to adequately light the fields for girls softball and soccer. This report with price estimates is to be made available at the next regular Park Board meeting. (Page Two, Called Meeting, Park & Recreation Board, December 2, 1974) III. MIDWAY PARK SWIMMING POOL Mr. Lindsey stated that the present budget contained enough money to replace the filtering system. The diving boards was an item taken from the budget but does have a safety factor involved if we are to try to use these boards another year. It was requested that Mr. Lindsey bring to the next meeting an estimated cost to duplicate at Midway a bathhouse comparable to the ones now existing at Wilshire and South Euless as suggested in the capital improvement plans. IV. RIFLE RANGE A letter from Theron D. Carroll, Hunter Safety Corrdinator, was read to the Board. It stated they were requesting preliminary plans and estimated costs be made available where they could proceed with our application. _ Mr. Lindsey was instructed to procur this information and make it available to the Hunter Safety Commission and report back to the Park Board at our next regular meeting. V. A meeting between the City Council and the Park Board was discussed for early 1975, to inform the Council of the proceedings taking place within the Park Board, and receive direction for future planning. The Board felt that it was very important that their labors be directed in the direction the Council was presently planning. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 10:00 P.M. APPROVED: Chairman
