HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-04-29 Called Meeting Park and Recreation Board April 29, 1974 CALL TO ORDER The called meeting of the Park and Recreation Board was called to order at 7:50 P. M. by Chairman Charles Hunt, in the Conference Room of Euless City Hall . Members present were: Mesdms. Jolly Rawlings and Carolyn Griffin; Messrs. Jay Theder, Jack Stoltze and Harold Copher. Also present was Park and Recreation Director Frank Lindsey. INVOCATION The invocation was given by Mrs. Jolly Rawlings. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the regular meeting dated April 15, 1974 were approved as written with the following correction: Councilman Gopher arrived at 8: 15 P. M. , voted on one issue and departed at 8:45 P. M. and did not vote on any other issue. SECRETARY FOR MEETINGS The Park Board noted that they have been without a secretary for three consecutive meetings. II . PARK MASTER PLAN REVISIONS A discussion was held on the proposed Midtown Park, its location being in the triangle formed by Highway 183, Spur 350 and Highway 157. The park site is included in a tract of land currently being considered for development. The Park Board will publish a memorandum re-establishing its position. III . PARK MAINTENANCE The Park Board commended Frank Lindsey for the outstanding job in maintaining City parks. (Page Two, Called Meeting Park and Recreation Board, April 29, 1974) IV. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Mr. Lindsey stated that the baseball association will continue this year with a portable concession stand. The Hurst-Euless-Bedford School Board paid the difference for metal poles in lighting the Trinity Baseball diamond. Men' s softball is underway with 250 players and 16 teams. Girl 's softball has 154 players with 10 teams. Season tickets for swimming will go on sale next week. To move the Main Street bridge to South Euless Park would cost $17,500.00; to tear it down would cost $6,000.00. The storage building in Midway Park is too crowded and in the near future needs extending. V. DISCUSSION OF AMENDMENT OF ORN NANCE NO. 147 The Park Board discussed the amendment to Ordinance No. 147 at length. VI . ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 10:05 P. M. APPROVED: Chairman
