Park and Recreation Committee
January 15, 1973
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Park and
Recreation Committee was called to order at 7:45 P. M. in the Conference
Room of Euless City Hall with Chairman Charles Hunt presiding. Other members
present were Mrs. Carolyn Griffin, Messrs . Jay Theder, Ivan Gregory and Council-
man Harold Copher. (Absent was Mr. Jack Stoltze. )
Also present was Park and Recreation Direc-
tor Frank Lindsey.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes of the regular meeting dated
November 23, 1972 were approved as written.
HIRING SECRETARY FOR PARK AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
Mr. Gregory moved that Mr. Lindsey speak
to the City Manager in regard to hiring a recording secretary for the Park and
Recreation Committee's regular meetings. Mr. Theder seconded the motion and
the vote is as follows :
Ayes : Mrs . Griffin, Messrs . Hunt, Theder, Gregory, and Copher
Nays : None
Chairman Hunt declared the motion carried.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR OAKWOOD TERRACE
Mr. Theder recommended that Mrs . Griffin
meet with Oakwood Terrace Parent Teacher's Association to further discuss
playground equipment for the school campus .
WILSHIRE POOL
Mr. Lindsey made a report on the Wilshire
Swimming Pool . The paint is peeling in the dressing rooms . The embankment
is washing away and grass will be planted soon.
WILSHIRE PARKING LOT
The Park and Recreation Committee recommen-
ded Mr. Theder meet with the City Engineer to expand the Wilshire Pool Parking
Lot to at least twenty spaces.
SPRING PROGRAMS
Mr. Lindsey stated that he would mail the
members of Park and Recreation Committee Spring Recreation Programs.
Y.E.A. HOUSE
The Park and Recreation Committee requested
Councilman Copher recommend to the City Manager that the Y.E.A. House be used
for Girl Scout meetings.

FUNDS FOR 1973
Mr. Theder moved that Chairman Hunt write
a letter to the Mayor requesting information concerning approximately how much
bond money Park and Recreation has for 1973. Councilman Gopher seconded the
motion and the vote is as follows :
Ayes : Mrs. Griffin, Messrs . Gregory, Theder, Hunt, and Gopher
Nays : None
Chairman Hunt declared the motion carried.
SOUTH EULESS POOL
Mr. Theder gave a progress report on the
South Euless swimming pool . The pool has been poured.
SLIDES OF EULESS
Chairman Hunt showed slides of Euless
pointing out available land, possible for future parks .
PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Chairman Hunt met with the Presbyterian
Minister and the Minister stated that the church property would not go on
the market without first contacting the City of Euless.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR FUNDING PROGRAMS
Mr. Theder recommended that the Park and
Recreation Committee form a Citizens Advisory Committee for funding programs.
The Park and Recreation Committee was in favor of his recommendation.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 11 :30 P. M.
