HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971-07-19 Regular Meeting Parks and Recreation Committee July 19, 1971 CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the Parks and Recreation Committee was called to order at 8:45 P.M. in the Conference Room of Euless City Hall with Vice Chairman Ivan Gregory presiding. Other members present are listed, as follows : Mr. Cullen H. McNair, Mmes. Carolyn Griffin and Joy Langston, Alternate. (Absent were Messrs. Charles Hunt, Chairman, and Jay H. Theder.) Also present were Councilman Frank Douglass and Recording Secretary Florence Murr. DISCUSSION: PROGRESS OF PROPOSED PARK IMPROVEMENTS South Euless Park Vice Chairman Gregory inquired concern- ing a report from the Architects on plans for the South Euless Park Swimming Pool . No one present had any information concerning the matter, and Mr. Gregory made a recommendation that Parks and Recreation Director Frank Lindsey contact the Architects, upon his return from vacation, and obtain information for a Progress Report. Members of the Committee were in general agreement that a Progress Report should be presented at the earliest possible date, even if a special called meeting is required. Vice Chairman Gregory stated that he would like to have a report concerning the repair of the sewer leak in South Euless Park. Mrs . Griffin stated that Mr. Lindsey advised her that the matter has been investigated and the leak will be repaired as soon as the area has dried up enough. Mrs . Griffin commented that she was in the area recently and observed that it has dried up and she anticipates the necessary repairs in the immediate future. Park Site On Ash Lane Vice Chairman Gregory stated that he would like to have a report on the progress of minor improvements to the new park site on Ash Lane. DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED TRADE OF WEST EULESS PARK SITE Mrs. Langston inquired concerning the proposed trade of West Euless Park Site. Vice Chairman Gregory advised that he was informed by Chairman Hunt that representatives for the City have met with owners of the property who proposed the trade, and they are attempting to negotiate a trade at this time. Councilman Douglass advised that he is of the opinion the City has written a letter, making an offer. (Councilman Douglass left the meeting at this time.) III . FURTHER DISCUSSION OF SOUTH EULESS PARK SWIMMING POOL Members of the Committee discussed, briefly, the swimming pool which is proposed for South Euless Park. The Committee directed Vice Chairman Gregory to contact the Engineers and ask them for a Progress Report on the Preliminary Plans for the swimming pool . IV.
