Room of Euless City Hall by Vice Chairman Ivan Gregory. Other members

PROPOSED PARK SITE - ASH LANE
Vice Chairman Gregory opened discussion
of the tract of land adjacent to the proposed school site on Ash Lane which
the School District has offered to the Park and Recreation Department for a
park site.
Mr. Lindsey presented a plat drawn by
the School District of the proposed school site. Discussion followed, and
Mrs. Martin proposed that Vice Chairman Gregory contact Mr. Bobby Hammonds
to invite him to accompany Committee Members, Councilman Douglass, and Mr.
Lindsey on a field trip to view the proposed site in the near future. Mr.
Gregory agreed to do so.
Councilman Douglass suggested the
Committee consider land surrounding Eden Lake in the nearby vicinity, and
pointed out the possibility of acquiring a larger tract in that location.
He stated that this is a wooded area, and would lend itself well for a
park site.
Committee Members plan to view both the
approximately two (2) acre tract adjoining the proposed school site and the
area surrounding Eden Lake during their forthcoming field trip.
The Committee agreed that purchase of
a park site will depend on the type of pool decided upon. The building
of a Community Pool would limit money to purchase land; whereas, a Neighbor-
hood Pool would leave more money for purchase of land for a park site.

REPORT OF CITIZEN'S VOTE:
COMMUNITY POOL VERSUS
NEIGHBORHOOD POOLS
Mr. Lindsey reported the latest tabula-
tion on the Citizen 's vote regarding Community Pool versus Neighborhood
Pools as follows:
Neighborhood Pools 347
Community Pool 145
No opinion 13
Vice Chairman Gregory stated that he
assumed the Park and Recreation Committee would proceed with plans for
Neighborhood Pools, since a majority of the Citizens voted for Neighbor-
hood Pools.
Mrs. Martin stated that the Park and
Recreation Committee had made a thorough study of the present and future
needs for swimming pools in the City of Euless, and believes a Community
Pool would best serve the Citizens at this time, with Neighborhood Pools
to be built as soon as funds become available. However, if the City Council
should vote in favor of building Neighborhood Pools first, then the Park
and Recreation Committee should comply with the Council 's decision.
Mr. McNair stated that he feels a
majority of the people who voted for Neighborhood Pools think they will
have a pool in their area in the very near future, and do not realize
that pools of this type will be built at intervals, and it could be years
before they would have a swimming pool in their particular neighborhood.
He stated that he feels the plan to build a Community Pool first, and
follow with Neighborhood Pools as the funds become available would best
serve the Citizens of Euless.
Councilman Douglass stated that he
believes the response to the Mayor's Newsletter regarding Neighborhood
Pools versus Community Pool will have a bearing on the City Council 's vote.
The Committee Members planned to meet
for a work session to draw up a new set of recommendations to present to
the City Council , if the Council should vote in favor of Neighborhood Pools.
