Park and Recreation Committee
November 16, 1970
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Park and
Recreation Committee was called to order at 7:40 P. M. in the Conference
Room of Euless City Hall by Chairman Charles Hunt. Other members present
are as follows: Mrs. David Martin and Mr. Cullen McNair. (Absent: Messrs.
Ivan Gregory and Jay Theder.)
Also present were Councilman Frank
Douglass and Recording Secretary Della Houy.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the regular meeting
dated October 19, 1970, were approved as written.

COMFORT STATION, STORAGE AREA,
WORKSHOP - MIDWAY PARK
Mr. Hunt informed the Committee of the
changes recommended by City Inspector Jack Bullard, to the preliminary plans
to the comfort station and storage area in Midway Park.
The Committee discussed the possibility
of having the park equipment storage area on the north side of the building.
Councilman Douglass inquired about reversing the present plans and having
the rest rooms on the south side and the storage area and work shop on the
north side.
Mr. McNair stated he would like to see
the workshop and storage area remain together.
Mrs. Martin stated she would like to
see the rest rooms on the south side, as there would be more light on
this side.
Councilman Douglass inquired if there
is a possibility of, a street through the north side of Midway Park.
Mr. Hunt stated that it would be a
traffic hazard to have a street, as there are too many people walking
around the baseball diamonds.
A discussion followed on the possibility
of new parking area in Midway Park .

Mr. McNair stated that he has written the
Super Service Company for some prices on non-breakable type fixtures for
the comfort station.
Mr. Hunt stated that the plans for the
comfort station and storage area should be complete in detail so the
bidders can bid on the same plans.
Mr. McNair stated he would contact Mr.
Bullard by telephone as soon as possible and make the changes necessary
and will contact Mr. Hunt on these changes.

WINTERTIME PROGRAM
Mrs, Martin reported to the Committee
that Euless Junior High School is open on Friday nights for basketball
games. Mrs. Martin stated that at present there were some church
leagues, and also that there is no charge for the use of the gym.
Mr. , Hunt inquired if there was a possibi-
lity of other uses of the gym besid9 basketball , as boxing.
Mrs, Martin stated she did not know, that
basketball was all she was informed of.

ACQUISITION OF LAND
Councilman Douglass informed the
Committee that the City Council had voted to turn down the offer of an even
trade of land for West Euless Park site, and has requested that a price
be placed on the land offered in the trade in order for the council to
consider it as a future recreation area.
Councilman Douglass stated the City
should continue to patrol this area and keep it clean until a decision is
made.
IV.
LETTER OF APPRECIATION
Mr. McNair stated he had received a
letter from Mayor Krause expressing his appreciation for drawing the plans
for the comfort station and storage building, and he appreciated receiving
the letter.
