Park and Recreation Committee
September 21,- 1970
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Park and
Recreation Committee was called to order at 7:35 P. M. in the Conference
Room of Euless City Hall by Chairman Charles Hunt. Members present are
listed as follows: Mrs. David Martin, Messrs. Ivan Gregory, Cullen McNair,
and Jay Theder.
Councilman Frank Douglass, Special
Appointee to the Committee by Mayor Krause, was present. Also present
were Mr. Frank D. Lindsey, Director of Park and Recreation, and Mrs.
Ophelia Smith, Recording Secretary.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the
Park and Recreation Committee dated June 15, 1970, were approved a's
corrected at the Regular Meeting August 17, 1970.
Minutes of the Regular Meeting dated
July 20, 1970, were approved as written.
The minutes of the August 17, 1970,
meeting were approved after the following correction:
Item 1V, paragraph 1: "Mr. Theder said that the
Council should either adopt the recommendations
or reject them, and return them to the Committee.
If the Council just wants us to change them to the
Council's way of thinking, there is no need for a
Park and Recreation Committee".
REPORT ON LAND ACO_o'iSITION
FOR PROPOSED PARK SITE
Chairman Hunt reported that the owners
of the tract of land of approximately 40 acres along Little Bear Creek,
which is under consideration as a future park site, are unwilling to donate
the property to the City, but this does not preclude a purchase of some sort.
Discussion followed, and Committee
Members propose to recommend to the City Council that the City Manager make
an attempt to purchase approximately 40 acres of land along Little Bear
Creek with the assistance of the "Open Spaces" program for a future park
site.

CONSIDERATION OF EXCHANGE
OF LAND AS PARK SITE
Councilman Douglass presented drawings
of the proposed development of the area adjoining West Euless Park in
explanation of the developers' inquiry regarding a trade of land now design-
ated as West Euless Park for land adjoining Hurricane Creek on Marlene Drive.
Discussion followed and the Committee
Members agreed to recommend to the City Council that Councilman Douglass
and the City Manager look into an exchange of the 20 acre tract of land
now designated as West Euless Park for equivalent -plus land on the east
side of West Parkway.
DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED
COMFORT STATION AND
STORAGE ROOMS' IN
MIDWAY PARK
Chairman Hunt stated that a more
comprehensive drawing of the Rest Room facilities in Midway Park is needed.
Priority for Rest Rooms is -number One, storage for Little League baseball
equipment number Two, and a workshop and storage space for park and mainten-
ance equipment being number Three.

Mr. Lindsey reported that the Teen -
Center House is in the process of becoming incorporated.
