Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the June 2,
2011 minutes. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Barney Snitz seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed Councilman Leon Hogg and Jan Hogg,
LuAnn Portugal, and Loretta Doty to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
June and July stats are good with over 50,000 items checked out each month.
Masterworks Programs:
We had 156 attend the KeAnuenue performance.
The Summer Reading Program was a success with 963 signed up in the Youth Department and 187 signed up
for the Adult Summer Reading program.
Kate shared a copy of the Dallas Morning News article "Libraries Prove They Still Have Shelf Life" for each
board member and guest.
The staff will be moving and adding shelves in the Youth Adult, Large Print, Mystery, and International section
before opening on Friday, August 5th.
We are making reservations for the September 9th performance by Verlon Thompson.
Kate shared that the State Library System has been impacted with budget cuts by the state. We will receive
very little money in 2012 and all funding will be gone in 2013. NTRLS is now NTLP (North Texas Library
Partners) and they are considering adding membership fees to survive and continue to offer services.
BYKI will be funded out of the new budget. The cost is $2500.00.
Downloadable audio books continue to have problems. Recorded Books is working on the issues and we hope
to have a solution soon. Recorded Books also reports that downloadable books for Kindles and Nooks will be
available soon.
Staff Update: Kelly LaBrie is Employee of the Month for August and will be recognized at the next City
Council meeting.

DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee will be out for the next meeting on September 1, 2011.
2. Beverly Leake reported that she won one of the prizes with the Adult Summer Reading program.
CITIZEN INPUT:
LuAnn Portugal is concerned about the state budget cuts and how they affect the library. She also commented
on the great things that are happening in Euless.
Councilman Hogg commented on:
1. Budget
2. September 11th ten-year anniversary dedication ceremony
3. Taco Cabana
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Beverly Leake and seconded by Marcia
Brown. The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
