Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the
May 5, 2011 minutes. Beverly Leake made the motion to accept the minutes with corrections and Barney Snitz
seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed Councilman Leon Hogg and LuAnn Portugal
to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate reports that the stats are up again. On June 1, 2011 we checked out 3,142 items and check in 1,956 items.
Tex Express pick-up and deliveries will be decreased to two times per week.
Kate read the letter from the Mayor thanking the Library Board for sending the letter to the City Council,
Mayor, and state representatives.
Staff Changes: Sherry Knight starts full-time today in the Youth Department.
We had the new message board installed on the wall behind the Circulation Desk. We will be putting notices of
events in the library and other library information for the public.
Youth Summer Reading Program started on June 1, 2011 and we have over one hundred children signed up.
Amazon reports that they are working on a way for library books to be compatible with the Kindle.
We are considering cancelling English Discoveries but keeping BYKI.

DISCUSSIONS:
1. The Library Board discussed and decided not to have the July 7, 2011 meeting.
2. Mike McGehee discussed with the board the incredible amount of books that the Friends of the
Library have for the book sale. There are options being discussed with ELF on how to sell or
recycle some of the older books that are in their inventory.
3. Mike McGehee also announced that ELF has agreed to help in any way they can with the library
budget.
4. Barney Snitz is working with the Euless Fire Department with the Muscular Dystrophy Association
campaign.
5. Chris McAllister gave KUDOS to the library staff for all of their hard work and activities they have
for the patrons.
CITIZEN INPUT:
LuAnn Portugal commented on BYKI and inquired about the ELF tile project.
Councilman Hogg commented on:
1. Swearing in of the City Council and Mayor at the next council meeting
2. The Riverwalk project at 183/360
3. Budget and Sales tax
4. City pools
5. Installation of the beam from the World Trade Center
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Beverly Leake and seconded by Allan
Gibbs. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
