Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the
April 7, 2011 minutes. Betty Fuller made the motion to accept the minutes with corrections and Adriane
Weinstein seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed Councilman Leon Hogg and LuAnn Portugal
to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate reports that the stats are down a little, probably due to the Bedford Library opening. She is pleased that
the stats have dropped so little.
Masterworks Programs:
Three Fools on Three Stools was enjoyed by approximately 60 people.
Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale was April 15th, 16th and 17th. The sale netted $1751.00.
The library received the Award of Excellence at the City Council meeting on April 12th. Barney Snitz, Allan
Gibbs, and Beverly Leake attended the meeting.
Kate updated the board on the Polaris upgrade, text messaging, and Mobile Pac.
Kate reported that the artist is working on the tiles for the ELF Tile project.
Kate asked the board for input regarding prioritizing the services that our Loan Star Libraries grant had been
funding.

DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee mentioned that he likes getting the minutes via e-mail. All agreed with the
exception of Betty Fuller.
2. Marcia Brown talked about the HEB situation
3. Marcia Brown handed out items from TLA
4. Chris McAllister suggested putting a café in the library.
CITIZEN INPUT:
LuAnn Portugal commented on early voting at the library.
Councilman Hogg commented on:
1. Susan Crim's retirement
2. Property south Target
3. Willie Mae's property
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Beverly Leake and seconded by
Adriane Weinstein. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
