Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the March 3,
2011 minutes. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Adriane Weinstein seconded the
motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed Councilman Leon Hogg and Jan Hogg and
LuAnn Portugal to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Statistic report showed marked increase in numbers over February 2011
Masterworks Programs:
The Killdares performance was wonderful. Attendance was 147 in the room, approximately 20-30 in the lobby
listening to the performance, and approximately 10 on the outside patio also listening to the music.
3 Fools on 3 Stools return on Monday, April 11tH
Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale is April 16th, 17th and 18th. New Hours on the Early Bird Sale on
Friday will be from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
National Library Week is April 10 through 17. We have new t-shirts for the staff to wear, we will have a
drawing for a Gardening Book gift package, a contest to win a Yogi Bear DVD and four movie passes, and the
5th Annual Edible Book Contest will be on Wednesday, April 13 through April 14. Judging for the contest will
be at 4:00pm on April 13th. The Proclamation of National Library Week will be read by the Mayor at the City
Council Meeting on Tuesday, April 12th.
Becky Moren will be upgrading Polaris on Wednesday, April 13th and Thursday, April 14th. The library catalog
and public internet will not be available both days. We have printed posters and signs so patrons will be aware
of the project and time frame.
Staff Update:
Kate Lyon will be out for surgery beginning Friday, April 15th for approximately 2 weeks.
Sherry Knight will be full-time in Youth beginning in June.

DISCUSSIONS:
1. The Library Board read the letters Beverly Leake composed to send to Governor Perry,
Representative Todd Smith, and Mayor Mary Lib Saleh and the Euless City Council regarding the
impact of state budget cuts.
2. Betty Fuller made the motion to send the letters and Allan Gibbs seconded the motion. All board
members signed each letter and Beverly Leake mailed the letters.
3. Beverly Leake is very appreciative of input and feedback on the letters.
4. Marcia Brown is going to TLA.
5. Mike McGehee is scheduled to have surgery on April 20th
6. Barney Snitz wanted to share with the group that the Euless Police offer free defensive classes for
women.
7. Allan Gibbs was impressed with the Staff Picks and would like to have a Library Board Picks.
8. Chris McAllister suggested to have a"Top 10 Books for Children" or"What are Youth Reading?"
list in the Youth Department.
9. Adriane Weinstein announced to the board that she and her husband will be relocating to North
Carolina to help care for her mother.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Lu Ann Portugal shared with the board her visit to the St. Augustine Library.
Councilman Hogg commented on:
1. Ribbon Cutting at Schlotzky's
2. Upcoming elections
3. Progress with Euless Riverwalk and the property around the Target Center
4. Calloway Cemetery
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by Marcia
Brown. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
