Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the November
11, 2010 minutes. Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes and Marcia Brown seconded the
motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee and Library Administrator, Kate Lyon, welcomed Allan
Gibbs to the Library Board and also welcomed Councilman Leon Hogg and Jan Hogg to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate presented the statistics. Statistics are up. Wireless internet stats are really high.
Kate explained that library downloadable books cannot be downloaded to Kindles or Nooks. Kindles are not
compatible and the cost for the Nook program is very expensive and cannot be justified at this time.
Kate announced that we will be withdrawing audio books on tapes and cassettes due to lack of use. The items
will be given to the Friends of the Library for the book sale.
The Bedford Library is closed due to the move into their new facilities. They are scheduled to open on
February 5, 2011. We expect a high use of the library until they reopen and then we might see a decline.
Kate reminded the board that the Boards and Commissions Dinner will be on February 7, 2011 at the Texas
Star. Be sure to RSVP with Ann Pope in the City Secretary's office.
ELECTION OF LIBRARY BOARD OFFICERS:
Barney Snitz nominated Mike McGehee as Chair of the Library Board. There were no further nominations and
Betty Fuller seconded the nomination of Mike McGehee. Marcia Brown made a motion to accept the
nomination of Mike McGehee as Chair of the Library Board. Barney Snitz seconded the motion. The board
voted unanimously to accept the nomination of Mike McGehee as Chair of the Library Board for 2011.
Betty Fuller nominated Barney Snitz as Vice-Chair of the Library Board. There were no further nominations
and Adriane Weinstein seconded the nomination of Barney Snitz. Marcia Brown made a motion to accept the
nomination of Barney Snitz as Vice-Chair of the Library Board. Chris McAllister seconded the motion. The
board voted unanimously to accept the nomination of Barney Snitz as Vice-Chair of the Library Board for 2011.

DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee enjoyed Flutasia at the Library in December.
2. Barney Snitz complimented the Newsletter and the Calendar of Events.
3. Chris McAllister complimented the Youth Department and their programs for the children.
4. Beverly Leake commented on advertising for programming for the library
5. Adriane Weinstein is working with an Autism Group in Plano. The school always needs extra books
if we have any that could be donated to let her know.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Councilman Hogg commented on:
1. Sales Tax
2. New Senior Center
3. Upcoming City Council and Mayor elections
4. The development adjacent to the Target Center
5. New development on Willie Mae McCormick's property
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Beverly Leake and seconded by
Adriane Weinstein. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
