DISCUSSIONS:
1. Chris McAllister inquired about the collection agency. Kate shared that the agency only works with libraries and
has been very successful for collection of fines that are over$25.00. The agency takes care of so many of the
issues that were time consuming for the staff.
2. Marcia Brown announced that she will be retiring from HEB/ISD at the end of May. Congratulations!!
3. Mike McGehee reports that ELF is doing very well and is working with the tile artist to finalize the project. They
are now planning to have the project completed and installed in the spring or summer of 2011.
4. Betty Fuller shared that the Library Board had agreed early to support and participate in the tile project and she
would like to have some type of decision.
Kate Lyon reported that she and Betty Fuller presented the Library Board's suggestion to do a tile on
volunteerism. The ELF Art Committee declined their suggestion. The tile suggested to the Library Board by
Kate at the last meeting has now been sold.
Mike McGehee reported that at this point in the project ELF will not be adding new tiles and the remaining tiles
need to be sold. One tile not sold is the Red Oak Tree which is the official tree for the city. The cost of the tile is
$300.
The Board would like to sponsor the Red Oak Tree tile and have the artist paint a child sitting under the tree
reading. Marcia Brown made a motion to sponsor the Red Oak Tree tile with changes and Betty Fuller seconded
the motion. Kate Lyon will present their proposal to the ELF Art Committee.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Luann Portugal praised the Library Board on how well they work together, but she was particularly impressed and
enjoyed watching them work together on the decision to sponsor a tile. She also was very complimentary of the Library
Newsletter, posters, and flyers that are produced.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by Adriane
Weinstein. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted
