Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the January 10, 2010
minutes. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes with corrections and Barney Snitz seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee and Library Administrator,Kate Lyon welcomed LuAnn Portugal,
Councilman Leon Hogg and Jan Hogg to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate presented the January statistics. The growth in statistics is somewhat lower but not by much. The library continues
to be very busy and we issued over 500 new library cards for the last month.
The library received a letter from Denise Miles which included information on the Toronto library system. Toronto has
99 library branches plus a bookmobile,and 11 million items cataloged in their collection.
Masterworks Programs:
February 8,2010 at 7:00 pm Rhett Butler in the Meeting Room
March 8, 2010 at 7:00 pm Three Fools on Three Stools in the Meeting Room
Tile Project: All of the book spines have been sold. Kate approached the Library Board to see if they would be interested
in going in as a group to purchase a tile from the Library Board. Karan will print up a ballot to vote on the purchase of a
tile and distribute at the March meeting.
The Boards and Commissions dinner is Monday evening February 22,2010 at the Texas Star. Please RSVP with Susan
Crim or Karan.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee reminded everyone that due to budget restraints this year the library will not renew the Library
Board members TLA memberships.
2. Barney shared with the board to go to the ELF website to review the tiles that are available for the tile art project.
3. Barney is concerned that the guards do not wear a uniform. He would like to see their clothing identify them as
"Security Guard." Kate explained that our guards are Public Service Officers from the Euless jail and their shirts
issued by the city are marked"City of Euless Detention."

4. Chris McAllister inquired if any decision had been made regarding the Tumble books. Kate explained that she
had not made a final decision. Kate found Story line on Line that looks very interesting and is free.
5. Priscilla Cauley shared information about"Dallas/Fort Worth and Beyond"magazine that does not include
information on Euless. This would be a good source of advertising for Euless.
6. Beverly Leake is looking for a speaker for the mentor program at Texas Health Resources.
ELECTION OF LIBRARY BOARD OFFICERS FOR 2010:
1. Vice-Chairman Barney Snitz Fuller seconded Mike McGehee as
on. All board members of
voted in favor of Mike McGehee to further erve as
nominations and Betty Fu
Chairman of the Library Board for 2010.
2. Betty Fuller nominated Barney Snitz as Vice-Chairman of the Library Board. There were no further nominations
Marcia Brown seconded the motion. All board members voted in favor of Barney Snitz to serve as Vice-Chairman
of the Library Board for 2010.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Councilman Hogg reports that Aldi Grocery store is scheduled to open on May 14t. Glade Parks property drainage is
installed and waiting for merchants to start opening business again. The renovation on Midway Recreation Center has
started and should be complete in May,the new fitness center adjacent to the recreation center should be complete in
August,and the new Senior Center from start to finish is 300 days. Comp USA is scheduled to open soon and will be
located in the former Shoe Pavilion building by Lowes.
LuAnn Portugal complimented Ellen on the wonderful displays.

The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by Priscilla Cauley.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:23 p.m.
