Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 5:30p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the November 5, 2009
minutes. Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes and Adriane Weinstein seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee and Library Administrator,Kate Lyon welcomed LuAnn Portugal,
Councilman Leon Hogg and Jan Hogg to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate presented November and December 2009 statistics. The statistics continue to be outstanding.
Kate handed out the Northeast section of the Star-Telegram article regarding libraries embracing e-books,online services,
Wi-Fi connections and other services. Euless Public Library was not mentioned in the article, but we offer the same
services with the exception of Tumble Books and Mango. Mango is an online language service that we felt did not meet
the needs of our patrons,and Kate is looking into Tumble Books.
On Tuesday,January 12th Rachel Feltenberger will give a presentation to the City Council on our Youth Services
Department activities.
The first Masterworks program for this year is Rhett Butler. He will perform on Monday,February 8th in the Meeting
Room.
The North Texas Conference for Library Supporters in Saturday,February 13 at the Lockheed Martin Recreation area.
The library will pay for any of the board members whowould like to attend.
The Security Guard position is now being filled by Public Service Officers from the jail. They have made a huge
difference on the environment of the library. We no longer have the after school issues we have been dealing with. Even
though things are so much better they continue to be a positive presence in the library.
Kate has talked with Coach Lineweaver and they plan to produce another READ poster.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee welcomed everyone back from the holidays.
2. Barney Snitz enjoyed the Flutasia concert in December. He also visited the Colleyville Library and shared that it
was very quiet. The librarians in the Reference area are able to monitor the public computers with monitors on
their desks.

3. Marcia Brown shared that the Trinity students use netTrekker on the school computers for research. The
computers are password protected that she issues to the students. TRINITY WON STATE!!!!
4. Priscilla Cauley shared information on the Certified Tourism Ambassador program that DFW Airport is very
active in to prepare for the Super Bowl in 2011. The application cost is $25.00 and participants are given a
certificate as a Certified Tourism Ambassador after you complete the training and test. Contact her if you are
interested.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Councilman Hogg reports that the building for Redi-mix Concrete is complete. Bids are open for the renovation of
Midway Recreation and the building of the new Senior Center. The city hopes to have the buildings complete and open in
approximately 1-year.
LuAnn Portugal commented on the fact that there are so many good things going on in the city even during these hard
times.

The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Betty Fuller and seconded by Priscilla Cauley.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
