DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the August 6, 2009 minutes. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Adriane Weinstein seconded the motion. WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee welcomed LuAnn Portugal, Councilman Leon Hogg and Jan Hogg to the meeting. REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR Kate reported that Karan's sister and brother-in-law were severely injured in an automobile accident on August 28. Karan has flown to Savannah to be with them, it is not known when she will be able to return. Kate showed the newest tile that has come in. It is of the First Baptist Church and is beautiful. A few other tiles should be here before the ELF annual meeting on September H. Statistics continue to be great. The library won the Achievement of Excellence award for the third year in a row. Kate thanked Priscilla Cauley for encouraging DFW Airport to commit to and pay for a tile. The library participated in the Junior Angler Day on August 8. r� August 8 was also the last day of the Summer Reading Club. Brian Burns performed his show, "Once Upon a Time in Texas for 101 children and adults. The Polynesian group, Ke Anuenue performed for a full house of 166 on August 10. Verlon Thompson delighted an audience of about 121 on August 21. Kate thanked Barney for helping to pack and move 1000 donated books from a residence in Hurst on August 22. The books will be great at the Friends Book Sale. Kate read a wonderful comment from a patron. "Between Euless, Bedford & N.R.H. Libraries, Euless has the other 2 beat. Euless has the best books, the most amount of new books&the most amount of paperbacks. The other libraries need to come to Euless to learn how to run &what type of books to have ready for their patrons. Thank you Euless Library. The librarians are the best at Euless." Signed Cindy Hack. Young Adult author, Rachel Caine, who writes the Morganville Vampire series,will be at the library on Saturday, October 24 at 2:00. DISCUSSIONS: Councilman Hogg explained the tiered water rates. LuAnn Portugal had visited Washington, D.C. recently and gave everyone pencils from the Library of Congress and showed us hand-outs from the Washington, D.C. library. Barney Snitz talked about how useful it was for Board Members to visit public libraries when they are out of town and share ideas with us. Priscilla Cauley and Beverly Leake were interested in the library doing a survey. They suggested utilizing the website,Survey Monkey. Kate said that she would look into that. Adjournment: The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by Betty Fuller. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
