Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the June 4,2009 minutes.
Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Adriane Weinstein seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Mike McGehee and Library Administrator,Kate Lyon welcomed LuAnn Portugal,
Councilman Leon Hogg and Jan Hogg to the meeting.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate reports that statistics continue to be outstanding.
Programming: We had 89 attend the Rose Marine Theatre performance of"The Mighty Lizard." Brian Burns will be
performing the SRC finale on August 8th at 3:00pm, The Ke Anuenue Polynesian program is Monday,August 11th at
7:00pm, and Verlon Thompson will be back on Friday evening, August 21S`
Summer Reading Club: SRC was a success with 1167 in the Youth Department and 300 completed their reading logs.
The Adult SRC had 538 with 136 completing their reading logs.
The library will receive the Achievement in Excellence Award on August 25th at the City Council Meeting.
The city budget has been approved. The budget is very lean but they approved the part-time Security Guard position and
the new self-check. The city does not anticipate any closings or lay-offs.
ELF: The annual meeting will be Friday evening, September 11 at 7:00pm and John Tippets will be the speaker.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Mike McGehee was very impressed with statistics and the great service the library gives to the community.
2. Barney Snitz reports that the Library Foundation tile project is still doing very well, and ELF is hoping to have the
project completed and installed by late 2010.
3. Adriane thanked Beverly for the beautiful card she sent on behalf of the Library Board.

LuAnn Portugal thanks Leon Hogg for coming to the board meeting and thinks this validates how much support the city
and the council gives to the library.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by Priscilla Cauley.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
