DISCUSSIONS:
,
1. Barney Snitz reports that there are 40 spines available to purchase for the tile project with Euless Library
' Foundation.
2. Chris McAllister was very excited to hear the positive numbers for the programs in the Youth Department.
3. Mike McGehee reported one of"Blooms of Enlightenment"blooms was broken by the janitors but has already
been replaced.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Councilperson Leon Hogg shared that he is very impressed with the statistics for the library. The number of people using
the library daily and the number of people using the computers is a definite sign of the many people using the library to
find employment.
Councilperson Leon Hogg also reports that the city budget is okay but will continue to trim where possible and currently
there are no plans for reduction in staff or layoffs. All open department positions are frozen for now.
Councilperson Hogg also reports that the city is building a new facility for Redi-Mix Concrete. This will increase the tax
base for the city. The shopping center near Target is ready to install the drainage, and we anticipate Best Buy to open in
2010. The city is still working on the plans for the new Senior Center to be built next to Midway Recreation.
LuAnn Portugal is very impressed with the statistics and praised the staff for their hard work and ability to keep up with
the number of people coming into the library.
Denise Miles is very impressed and grateful for all the library does for children.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by Adriane Weinstein.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted
