REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Statistics are really outstanding. The gate count and circulation count is up by over 6500 from this time last year. We feel
like this is due to our economic times.
Staff Update: Rachel Feltenberger, our new Senior Librarian in the Youth Department, will start on December 11th.
On Monday,December 8th,Holiday Cheer will be performing in from of Blooms of Enlightenment at 7:00 p.m.
Food for Fines will be the week of December 7- 13. For each can of food donated we will deduct$1.00 from a patron's
account for over due items. We will not accept the food items for any damaged or lost items on an account. Donations
will be given to the Northeast Emergency Distribution organization.
The library Loan Star money is over$18,000 this year. We will be using the money for downloadable books through
Recorded Books, continue services with Tex Share, and we will be able to continue the Job Kiosk. The Job Kiosk
database has been purchased by another company from The Dallas Morning News. The new database will have over
9000 jobs posted. The cost to continue this service is approximately$3600. We have about 300 people use the kiosk to
search for jobs.
Kate shared with the board how very much she appreciated all of the years and dedication that LuAnn Portugal has given
to the Library Board. Kate also urged LuAnn to continue to come and be a part of the meetings.
