MEMBERS STAFF OTHERS Mike McGehee Kate Lyon Barney Snitz Karan Jasper Betty Fuller LuAnn Portugal Marcia Brown Adriane Weinstein Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the August 7, 2008 minutes. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes,and Barney Snitz seconded the motion. REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: September is National Library Card Sign-up month and the library will be handing out green tote bags. Statistics remain good even though the numbers are down some from last month. This is due to the Summer Reading Club finishing up the end of July. Staff Update: Kate has asked Human Resources to re-post the position for the Senior Librarian in the Youth Department. Programming: • Teatro de la Rosa's professional touring company will be presenting"The Green Rabbit" in the meeting room on Monday, September 86 at 7:00 p.m. • Joe Nick Patoski, author of Willie Nelson-An Epic Life,will be at the library on Monday evening September 22 at 7:00p.m. He will be autographing and selling the book and has agreed to donate$5.00 per book back to the Euless Library Foundation. On Friday evening, September 19th ELF will be hosting a reception for the tile artist,Marion Grebow. The reception will be in the Library Meeting Room starting at 6pm. Please RSVP with Karan Jasper. Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale is October 10th through 126. Early Voting dates: October 22, 2008 through November 2, 2008. Boards and Commission interviews will be on October 13,2008. DISCUSSIONS: 1. Barney Snitz reports that Faye Stinneford is very interested in becoming part of the Library Board. Barney reports that he helped the fire department put 400 new metal plates on the city fire hydrants. 2. Mike McGehee reports that the foundation is very excited about the tile wall project and the artist coming in to visit Euless. The reception is Friday, September 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room. The food is being catered by Central Market and Frances Allen has donated the wine for the evening. 3. Betty Fuller reports that she is very proud of the staff for working together to help with the after school issues. 4. LuAnn Portugal and Adriane Weinstein are very impressed with the new"Quiet Zone"that has been created with the library expansion.
