Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m and welcomed our visitors Helen Voss and Faye
Stinneford.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the June 5,2008 minutes.
Barney Snitz made the motion to accept the minutes, and LuAnn Portugal seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate wanted to thank the board for the thoughtful sympathy card that was sent to her
Statistics remain good with Year to Date Circulation Statistics 416,069 compared to Last Year to Date Statistics 353,573.
Summer Reading Club statistics: Youth 976,Teens 213, and Adult 540 for a total of 1729 participating this year.
Staff Update: We have two positions open in the Youth Department. Beverly McCalmont has accepted a position with
the Keller Independent School District teaching special needs children. Elaine Thornton, and her husband,have accepted
Academic Librarian positions at Texas A&M University.
Programming:
• The John Adams Group will be performing in the Library Meeting Room on Monday,August l 1th at 7pm.
• The Rose Marine Theatre,a bi-lingual theatre group,will perform El Conejito Verde(The Green Rabbit)on
Monday, September 8th at 7pm.
• Joe Nick Patoski author of Willie Nelson An Epic Life will be in the Library Meeting Room on Monday,
September 22 at 7pm.
On Friday evening, September 19th ELF will be hosting a reception for the tile artist,Marion Grebow. The reception will
be in the Library Meeting Room starting at 6pm.
Paula Myers and Kelly LaBrie will be representing the Library at the Junior Angler event. We will be handing out
flashing fish and fish tattoos.
Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale is October 10t through 12`h.
Early Voting dates: October 22, 2008 through November 2, 2008.
All of the new furniture for the library is in and we expect to have the last of the re-upholstered furniture delivered by the
end of August.

Library Boar d Minutes
Library Board Update: Kasey Bess has resigned to spend more time with her family and newborn baby. Chris McAllister
has submitted his application to come back to the Library Board. Currently we have one board member vacancy and two
alternate vacancies.
The Boards and Commissions Meeting and Dinner will not be held until the Spring after the re-modeling of the Texas Star
is completed.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Betty Fuller reports how very impressed she is with the library staff. The Reference Staff helped her with finding
books her granddaughter needed. Our library is the best in the area and we have certainly come a long way from
the first library that was 276 square feet.
2. Mike McGehee agrees with Betty that the staff and the library is such a positive for the community. Mike also
thanks everyone for the support for ELF and the tile project.
3. Barney Snitz reports that Beatlegras and the jazz group programs were absolutely wonderful.
CITIZEN INPUT:
Helen Voss feels like there is nothing more positive than a full library and our library is so good for the Euless
community.
Faye Stinneford is in the library often with her grandson and is always impressed with the service and care the staff shows
to the patrons.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by Betty Fuller
meeting was adjourned at 8:03 p.m.
