Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the May 1,2008 minutes.
Adriane Weinstein made the motion to accept the minutes,and Barney Snitz seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Statistics remain good with Year to Date Circulation Statistics 313,542. Last Year to Date Statistics 265,322.
Kate reports on the board request to see how many patrons have library cards in Euless zip codes:
Zip Code 76039— 16,210
Zip Code 76040— 12,563
Library expansion is coming along nicely and should be completed shortly. The Genealogy/Local History room is almost
complete,and the furniture has arrived from Gaylord. The new office space for the Reference staff is ready and we are
waiting on the furniture to be installed. Office furniture has been ordered for the staff in the back office,and we have
ordered the fabric for the chairs and other furniture that is to be recovered.
Kate reports that the incident with the after school crowd has been taken care of by the Euless Police. Some of the teens
from Euless Jr.High and Trinity were issued Criminal Trespass for their actions and language to the library staff and to
the Police officers. Two teens,a brother and sister,were taken to Euless Police to wait for their parents to pick them up.
As a result of the actions of the Police Department the situation is very much improved.
Paula Myers is Employee of the Month for May and will be receiving her award at the City Council meeting.
Library staff elected to use the money they won for their achievements in the United Way Campaign to purchase the
Library Then and Now tile for the ELF tile project.
ATT no longer services or sells pay phones. The pay phone,with no in-coming or long distance service, in the lobby will
be replaced by our Facilities Department.
Summer Reading Program is in full swing. As of today we have 533 registered in the Youth Department and 135 in the
Adult Summer Reading Program. The Youth has a separate program requirements for the teens,and the Adult have a 5
book minimum and then can enter the drawing for some prizes that have been donated by local merchants.
Kate will be going to Austin on June 2,2008 to receive her Certified Public Manager Award.
Beatlegras will perform in the Meeting Room on June 16 at 7pm.

DISCUSSIONS:
1. Barney Snitz reports that he thinks the new carpet,the new Genealogy/Local History area,and the new look of
the shelving in the library looks wonderful. Barney also wanted to compliment how well the city has planned and
prepared the Dog Park at Bear Creek.
2. LuAnn Portugal inquired about when the artist for the tile project will be coming to Euless. Kate reported that
she will be here for the ELF Annual Meeting and there will be a reception for her in the Library on Friday,
September 19,2008.
3. Adriane Weinstein shared with the board that she was recently at the renovated library in Del Ray Beach and it
was not as nice as the Euless Public Library. She did report that they have Lucite stands with printed Book
reviews for the patrons,and that once a month they record a children's book that can be accessed by home phone
so children can call in and listen. The library also sells boxes of note cards by artists.

The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by Adriane
Weinstein. The meeting was adjourned at 8:04 p.m.
