Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the January 2, 2008 minutes. Betty Fuller made the motion to
accept the minutes, and Barney Snitz seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM BILL RIDGWAY,DIRECTOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:
Bill Ridgway distributed blue recycling bags and information on the March 1, 2008 change of schedule for City of Euless
recycling and trash pick-up dates. Bill also expressed his appreciation to the board for all they do for the Library and the
City of Euless.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate presented the statistics and our numbers continue to show increases in Circulation and database usage.
Kate unveiled to the board the first tile received for the art tile project. Kate reports that the artist,Marion Grebow will be
here from April 3, 2008 until April 5,2008. Marion will be staying with Glenn and Diane Porterfield and touring Euless
to get more information on our history. This project will be in three sections and take approximately two years to
complete.
The library expansion project has started. We are making some modifications to adjust to the budget, but most of the
changes are in the back office. We will have 2 new study rooms instead of three. This change was due to ADA
requirements. The History/Genealogy area,new quiet reading room,and the additional office space for the Reference
staff remains the same.
Monday,February 11,2008 Dueling Harps will be performing in the library in front of Blooms of Enlightenment. The
program begins at 7pm.
Verlon Thompson is returning to the library on Saturday, March 8,2008. Be sure to make reservations with Karan.
Early voting in the Meeting Room starts on February 19 and goes through February 29.
Kate Lyon and Betty Fuller will attend the NTRLS Regional Meeting is February 29, 2008 at the Bedford Library.
The TLA Conference is April 13 thru April 19 in Dallas. The Board Luncheon is on Wednesday,April 16,2008. Let
Kate or Karan know if you want to attend so we can make reservations. The library will pay if you want to attend the
luncheon and TLA.
Kate reports that we have Officer Sheli Hartley coming daily to work with the after school kids. Her presence at the
library has made a big difference.

DISCUSSIONS:
• Mike McGehee reports that ELF is very excited about the tile project and meeting Marion Grebow in April.
While ELF is not looking at this as a fund raiser they are looking at other activities to help offset the costs of
bringing the artist to Euless and other expenses related to the project.
• Mike McGehee would also like to have another conversation after TLA regarding our Five Year Plan and
the future of the library.
• Barney Snitz handed out the Library Visit List to use when visiting other libraries.
• Barney Snitz also reported about the movie"The Public"that is about libraries being a place for the
homeless.
• Barney Snitz has also requested the Citizen Patrol to drive by to help with the issue of the after school kids.
• Betty Fuller is concerned that our library is used as a"baby sitter service."

The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by LuAnn Portugal and seconded by Adriane
Weinstein. The meeting was adjourned at 8:03 p.m.
