EULESS LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
January 3, 2008
Chairman Mike McGehee called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES:
The Chairman asked for a motion to be made to accept the December 6,2007 minutes. Barney Snitz made the motion to
accept the minutes,and Adriane Weinstein seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Kate presented the statistics and our numbers continue to show increases in Circulation and database usage.
Kate reports that the collection agency has done a great job of helping to reduce the bad debt. In September 2007
$3000.00 was collected.
The staff has completed the library inventory, and we only had 3/10 of 1%of the collection unaccounted for. The items
that are usually high numbers on the unaccounted list are Youth DVD's and Adult non-fiction.
The library expansion project has been delayed due to bids coming in higher than our budget. The City has asked for new
bids from all of the vendors. We hope we do not have to make any changes,but if necessary the changes would most
likely be in the back office. The replacement of the carpet is not in the expansion budget and at this time does not require
new bids.
Masterworks Schedules for 2008:
February 11,2008 Dueling Harps will perform in the Library in front of "Blooms of Enlightenment"
March 10, 2008 Behan,Celtic Group
April 14,2008 Brian Burns,Texas Country music
June 16, 2008 Beatlegras
July 14,2008 LA Jazz, big band sound with vocals
August 11,2008 John Adams, blues and ja77
September 8,2008 Rosemarine Theatre,bi-lingual children's theatre group
Also,Verlon Thompson is returning to the library on March 8.
Events in the Library:
Family Storytime in the Youth Department starting at 6:00pm on Mondays.
Wonderful Ones each Tuesday mornings at 10:00am and Crafty Preschoolers each Tuesday mornings at 11:00am.
Checkers and Chess in the Youth Department each Tuesday from 4:00pm to 5:30pm
Preschool and Toddler storytimes each Wednesday at 11:00am

Library Board Minutes
Trinity High School students are offering assistance with homework in the Youth Department from 4:30-6:OOpm every
Thursday.
Computer Classes every Monday and Tuesday at 7:00pm, and Wednesday mornings starting at 10:30am.
AARP Income Tax Service will be in the library from February 2 through April 12,2008. The hours are from 4:00pm to
8:00pm on each Tuesday and from 12:00 noon until 4:00pm each Saturday. Reference Department is taking reservations
for the tax service.
Early Voting for the Presidential Primary begins on February 19, 2008 and ends on February 29, 2008.
TLA Conference is in Dallas on April 15,2008 through April 18, 2008. Be sure to get your TLA Membership forms in to
Karan as soon as possible.
The Tile Project is moving along and we expect to have the first completed tile in approximately two weeks.
We will be creating a new Trinity High School Read poster with the Coach and the football players. No date has been set
but we will keep everyone posted.
The Trinity Trojans will be recognized at the next City Council Meeting on January 8, 2008.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. The board is concerned about the children being so disruptive and loud in the library. They are concerned that
parents see us as a babysitter place until they are off work. Kate Lyon reports that we requested police assistance
on a regular basis, and that she is working with Chief Brown to have a regular patrol officer come into the Library
after school for a couple of hours.
2. Election of Officers:
Barney Snitz motioned that all officers remain the same for year 2008 and Adriane Weinstein seconded the
motion. Mike McGehee made a motion for Barney Snitz and Betty Fuller to co-share Library Board
Representative to the Euless Library Foundation. Adriane Weinstein seconded the motion. There was no
opposition to the motions all motions were carried.

ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Barney Snitz and seconded by LuAnn Portugal.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:02 p.m.
