HomeMy WebLinkAbout19-1552 08-13-2019 RESOLUTION NO. 19-1552 A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CITY OF EULESS' APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S 2019 SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL-INFRASTRUCTURE CALL FOR PROJECTS. WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) issued a call for projects in February 2019 for communities to apply for funding assistance through the Safe Routes to School-Infrastructure (SRTS) Program, and WHEREAS,the SRTS funds may be used for development of plans, specifications, and estimates; environmental documentation; and construction of pedestrian and/or bicycle infrastructure. The SRTS funds do not require a local match. As the Project Sponsor, the City would be responsible for all non-reimbursable costs and 100% of overruns, if any, for SRTS funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The City Council supports funding the following three projects as described in the Local Government's 2019 SRTS Detailed Application and is willing to commit to the project's development, implementation, construction, maintenance, management, and financing: • Dove Trail connection to Fuller-Wiser Road: This project will add approximately 491 feet of sidewalk on the north side of East Midway Drive between Dove Trail and Fuller-Wiser Road, and support elementary school students walking to a new school on East Midway at International. • International Elementary School: This project proposes to add four new School Zone signs with flashing lights and two Activated Crosswalks at or about the intersection of East Midway Drive and International Drive. • North Euless Elementary School: This project proposes to add one new Activated Crosswalk at the intersection of Denton Drive and West Harwood Road to allow safe pedestrian traffic from the south side of West Harwood Road to the North Euless Elementary school. SECTION 2. The City Council is willing and able to authorize, by resolution or ordinance, the City to enter into an agreement with TxDOT should the project be selected for funding. SECTION 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
