city they represented.
OLD BUSINESS
3. Discuss and possibly take action on items as they relate to 2019 annual Teen Court
Scholarship Gala.
Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst went over the expenses and revenue from the Gala. She
explained the big expense was the four scholarships totaling $6,000 that were given to the Teen
Recipients. The other major expense was the venue/food. Advisory Board Member Renu Sloan
mentioned that plated meals are not always as good, that the food is sometimes cold and suggested
looking into doing a buffet -style dinner. Chairperson Kathleen Toms agreed she liked the buffet -style
dinner.
All For G0000000d was the company that handled the silent auction and did a great job setting up
jewelry, handbags, memorabilia, and trips. Renu Sloan mentioned she thought the trips were
somewhat overpriced and to maybe do them as a live auction. Ms. Eichorst mentioned that the
Advisory Board Members did a wonderful job of bringing donated items as well to be auctioned off at
the Gala.
Ms. Eichorst mentioned that everyone seemed to enjoy the speaker, Lyndy Phillips, and that the entire
audience was laughing and entertained. She asked the Advisory Board to start thinking of a speaker
for the 2020 Teen Court Scholarship Gala and bring the names to the next Advisory Board Meeting.
NEW BUSINESS
4. Discuss and possibly take action on the 2020 annual Teen Court Scholarship Gala.
Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst asked if there were any issues with any of the dates in April
2020 for the Teen Court Scholarship Gala. Someone mentioned that Friday, April 10, 2020 is Good
Friday. Chairperson Kathleen Toms offered to check at Hurst Conference Center and Advisory Board
Member Renu Sloan offered to check at Texas Star to see what was available on a Thursday evening
for the month of April. The preference of dates are as follows: Thursday, April 16, April 23, and April
30, 2020.
Advisory Board Member Lorrie Dickerson made a motion to pursue silent auction company, All For
G0000000d, to assist the HEB Teen Court Scholarship Gala in 2020. Advisory Board Member Robin
Edwards seconded the motion and all were in favor.
Chairperson Kathleen Toms asked if All For G0000000d would be able to attend a future Advisory
Board Meeting to discuss what they do and what types of silent auction items they have.
Advisory Board Member Diana Howard mentioned that she works for American Airlines and could
possibly get a donation from that business.
