Parks and Leisure Services Board
August 5, 2019
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, August 5, 2019 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Randy Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Magen Brown,
and Kay Seeger, and Jason Reyes. Members absent: Isha Sharma.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, and Administrative Secretary Myndi Muncy.
Visitors present: Warren Wilson.
INVOCATION
Mr. Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Randy Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
June 3, 2019 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented
and was seconded by Mr. Raab. The vote was unanimous.

II. Beautification Award
a. Chairman Jones announced the July 2019 Residential Yard of the Month winner for July
was Debra Koepp at 1008 Tennison Drive. They have done outstanding work in keeping our city
looking its best. This property is very low maintenance and well-manicured. There are many
species of plants on this property that require low water such as Nandina, purple Jew, Indian
hawthorn , crape myrtle and yaupon holly just to name a few. The winner for August 2019 was
Warren Wilson at 802 Clebud drive. He has done outstanding work and shown great dedication
to keeping his landscape looking its best. The property has well-manicured turf and many species
of drought tolerant plants to add to the curb appeal. This landscape offers plants such as Salvia
Greggii, Sedum, Pincushion plant, Cana and two large trees to add shade for the property.
b. Chairman Jones announced the July 2019 Business/Civic/Governmental Beautification
award winner goes to Schlotzsky's. Schlotzsky's was the July winner, there property's landscape
is very drought tolerant and is trimmed and manicured and looking very nice. The low
maintenance and weed free landscape offers species such as yaupon hollies, knockout roses,
fringe shrubs and blue rug juniper plants. For the month of August, United Hydraulics was the
winner. This property is located on the far south of Euless and stands out amongst the rest in the
area. This landscape is very low maintenance and well-manicured. This property offers a few
species of plants such as Sweet Potato Vine, Croton, Variegated Privet, yaupon Holly and Indian
Hawthorn.
III. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairman Jason Reyes reported the following for May:
a. Total man hours for May 1-31 =807
• 405.00 Horticulture
• 185.00 Forestry
• 107.00 Greenhouse
• 140.00 Special Projects
• 24.00 Training
• 7.00 Water Truck
➢ Removed trees at Wilshire and J.A. Carr Park.
Removed tree limbs in parks due to storms.
Trimmed trees on trails at Mid-Cities and McCormick Park.
IV. Directors Report—Ray McDonald

• Summer youth work program.
• Aquatic Park attendance.
• Summer camp enrollment numbers.
• Parks at Texas Star advertisement video.
