That is the day applications are due for the Youth in Government program. Students who attend at least six classes and complete other activities are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Classes are Jan. 13 - April 6 and students will learn about the importance of city government and community involvement. More details are in this newsletter. I am also happy to announce that on Saturday, Dec. 14, the City of Euless is ringing the bell in the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. As part of the Bell Ringing Day, I will have a team at Kroger in Euless to do our part and ring the bell. A successful Red Kettle season greatly increases the Salvation Army’s ability to meet the crisis needs of food, clothing and shelter in our community throughout the year. Proceeds benefit children, families and individuals who are in need. You can listen to local choirs sing your Christmas favorites, visit our petting zoo and let little ones ride a pony. Kids can visit the Blacksmith and Santa Claus. The cities of Hurst, Euless, Bedford and the HEB Chamber of Commerce are partnering to provide local high school students with the opportunity to learn about city government and community involvement. As always, participants have the chance to win a college scholarship! Applicants must live in Hurst, Euless or Bedford and be a junior or senior in high school by Jan. 1, 2020.
