MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING

LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY,SEPTEMBER 5, 2019
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meetmg of the Euless Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman Snitz at
7.00 p m on Thursday, September 5, 2019, in the Board Room of the Library, 1100 Westpark
Way. Those present mcluded Chairman Barney Snitz,Board Members Jim Hamilton, and Mike
McGehee Board Member Chns McAllister, Leslie Kane and Vice Chairman Allan Gibbs were
not present

ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held August 1,
2019. The minutes were tabled due to a lack of quorum
ITEM NO.3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors that were present
ITEM NO.4 PRESENTED LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
❖ Staff Introduction—Youth Librarian
Library Director Sherry Knight introduced Susan Wedding as the new Youth Services Librarian
Ms Wedding gave a bnef overview of her background, work experience, education background
and personal life.
❖ Construction Update
Ms Knight gave an update on the progress of the construction of the library and showed a visual
presentation with pictures of the mockup photos and photos taken of the current construction
progress to compare

Ms. Knight also shared some furniture ideas and the finishes.
❖ Classes &Events Update
Ms. Knight gave an overview of events including the passive program "September Surprise" to
celebrate a different National Day of the Month each week. Ms. Knight also mentioned the crafts
planned for the month of September for the Make It and Take It Workshop and reminded the Board
of the ELF Annual Meeting which would feature Tim Madigan.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz mentioned an event happening at Texas Star tomorrow night and inquired after
Mary Lib Saleh's health.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Vice Chairman Gibbs was not present.
Library Board Members
Board Member Hamilton asked if there would be preventable measures taken regarding weather
on the porch and Ms. Knight stated that there would be a canopy on the back patio and a mesh
screen on the front porch.
Board Member McGehee compared the process from 1996 to today. Mr. McGehee inquired about
when the library would be open, and Ms. Knight stated that she was still unsure of an exact date
but the aim was still for spring 2020.
ITEM NO. 6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
LuAnn Portugal of Euless, TX inquired about patron and item recovery. Ms. Knight stated that
long term lost items were still up and confirmed that the library is still utilizing a collection agency
to collect the cost of lost items.
Ms. Portugal inquired about the size of the meeting rooms and changes to them. Ms. Knight stated
that those would remain the same apart from new finishes and minor adaptations to the kitchen
size.
ITEM NO. 7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Board Member McGehee
and seconded by Board Member Hamilton. The meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
