MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE
LIBRARY BOARD
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2019
ITEM NO. 1 CALLED TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Public Library Board was called to order by Chairman Snitz at
7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019, in the Board Room of the Library, 1100 Westpark Way.
Those present included Chairman Barney Snitz, and Board Member Chris McAllister. Vice
Chairman Allan Gibbs, and Board Members Jim Hamilton,Mike McGehee and Leslie Kane were
not present.

LuAnn Portugal,Euless, Texas.
ITEM NO. 2 APPROVED LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
The minutes were tabled due to a lack of quorum.
ITEM NO.3 WELCOMED VISITORS
Chairman Snitz welcomed all visitors that were present.
ITEM NO. 4 PRESENTED LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
❖ Construction Update
Ms. Knight gave an update on the progress of the construction of the library and showed a visual
presentation with pictures of the mockup photos and photos taken of the current construction. Ms.
Knight also showed the latest drone video.
LuAnn Portugal asked for clarification about what the construction company was responsible for
compared to what the City was responsible for regarding the outdoors and landscaping.
Board Member McAllister inquired about the back end, or west side, of the building and Ms.
Knight described the back patio.

Board Member McAllister asked about the library's plans for the teens and Ms.Knight stated that
the library would have a designated room inside and on the west patio,and a new position of Teen
Librarian, as well.
Ms. Knight repeated a prior presentation to address additional questions from the board.
❖ Classes&Events Update
Ms. Knight gave an overview of events including the passive program "Oogie Boogie Origami"
for National Origami Month and several outreach events that the library will be attending this
weekend including the Fire Department's Open House, Empowering Seniors at 6 Stones, and the
Texas Junior Angler Fishing Tournament at Wilshire Park.
ITEM NO. 5 REPORTS
Library Board Chairman
Chairman Snitz asked if the Library would be present at Trunk or Treat and Ms.Knight confirmed
that they would. Chairman Snitz also mentioned other events going on in the City this weekend.
Chairman Snitz spoke of his experience at the Trinity Homecoming Parade.
Library Board Vice-Chairman
Vice Chairman Gibbs was not present.
Library Board Members
Board Member McAllister complimented the mass of online resources and electronic offerings
that the Library offers.
ITEM NO. 6 PUBLIC COMMENTS
LuAnn Portugal of Euless, TX spoke of how much she missed Jerry Poteet and his work with the
Euless volunteers from the Parks and Recreation Department and informed the board of the latest
developments within the City.
ITEM NO. 7 ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Snitz adjourned the meeting at 7:47 p.m.
